Much like how Peter Cullen is referred to as the true Optimus Prime, I think Gary Chalk is the true Primal. While each character is certainly theirs I do think Chalk is a more than competent stand in for Peter Cullen. Chalk provides us with that more upbeat and softer Optimus prime that we see in the early seasons of gen1. Later takes on the character have been more inspired by the stern and serious elder approach in the movies. When it comes to the future of Transformers I'd be interested in seeing how Peter would handle being in the Primal role while seeing Gary do a deep and serious voiced live action version of Primal. Hopefully in the hands of Travis Knight
Imagine saying you voiced Optimus Primal, Prime, and Megatron while also being able to say you were in Godzilla, iCarly, Watchmen, Stargate SG-1, Sonic, & Power Rangers.
Chalk embraced the role of Primal well. I think it is funny that he voiced G1 megatron in the agenda. the irony is that Kaye voiced megatron and then Prime while chalk was primal and prime but also voiced megatron briefly.
@@zoltanperei4789 The one episode where he works as a double agent. Also, many situations he put himself before the team, while usually doing what was best for the team in the end. He's not as simple as "a good guy".
It’s weird because Besides beast wars the unicron trilogy was where I really got introduced to transformers and people are always quick to say Peter Cullen is the true voice of Optimus prime which he is but for me Gary will always be my favorite voice of Optimus prime and in my heart because he was the voice of my childhood.
Wow, I just love this guy. His talk about ambiguity and how people want heroes to be heroes and villains to be villains really speaks to me. Sadly I think some people love the ambiguity though, because for the last 15 years every work of fiction has been obsessed with blurring the lines and I'm so sick and tired of it.
There's a level of vindication that I cannot describe hearing him echo the same thoughts I had about Optimus primal versus Optimus prime. You can tell that he was still doing his absolute best, but the format and context didn't allow his full personality to come through.
Each and every one of them is repeating one major tip. Everyone who wants to be a voice actor always forgets the ''acting'' part. And that's very true when I watch abridge series. A lot of them can't sell a character.
My favorite character's that Garry voiced are Commander Dogstar on Bucky O'Hare (1991), Marsala on Exosquad (1993-'94), Lord Viper on King Arthur & the Knights of Justice (1992-'93), Guts Man on Mega Man (1994), Al's Waiter on ReBoot (1994-'01), and Spike on Street Sharks (1994-'97).

"trukk not munky" is the best meme. primal's beast mode could be much tougher. for prime, I should say "transpoort, not fyer trukk." best primal design was in rescue bots where prime became a "t-recks" while remaining a "trukk." of course the entire team had a dinobot alt mode.
POUIUIHUGGF megatron's alt mode has always varied depending on the series. also in beast wars II, optimus had a lion alt mode while he was a mammoth in neo. if anything what would be funny is to have all the maximals take on the alt modes of the g1 predacons. well rhinox would remain unchanged, but primal could be a lion.

After watching david, Scott and now Garry talk about their experiences on energon, armada and cybertron it doesnt seem like they had as much fun with that as they did with beast wars. Beast machines either! Pretty sad when ever your actors wonder what's going on with your storyline!
Yea, unfortunately that's just the reality with ADR. Far less creative freedom to the point that it just makes more sense to segment everyone. So unless you're in every scene of every episode or you watch the show, you'd have no idea what the big picture is, unlike in Beast Wars where everyone would record the episode together.
Canda censors the name of the show but lets the show air unchanged. How does that make any sense? Just cos you slap a strawberry jam sticker on a pack of beef jerky dosnt change the contense of the pack
I was enjoying the heck out of Beast Wars and Unicron Trilogy until the purists on Twitter showed up and ruined everything with their stupid opinions about Beast Wars, I'm never watching G1 again.
