I did not thumb it down but typical admission into the RRHoF should NEVER be taken seriously. The Beasties are 1 of about a dozen bands that MAY actually be deserving of entry. And though they've apologized and no longer endorse homophobia, they sure did at one time.

First time I’ve ever seen a band get booed off a stage. Probably not an opener for a Madonna crowd. Lol. I vividly remember Ad Rock, MCA, and Mike D) telling the Madonna crowd to fuck off Detroit and they threw their beer’s into the crowd lol. I think they played maybe 3 songs. The Beasties used to go down to Rock clubs in the early 80s where it was full on Rock and Punk scene. There is where the Beastie boys heard the first hip hop records being played over the loud speakers. it's crazy to think that in clubs where it was mainly Rock, they would play Hip Hop to rock fans. That's rock for you, they bring exposure to things that mainstream media wouldn't necessarily be covering. This is coming full circle for them tho, starting as a punk band and then evolving into a hip hop group. well deserved. RIP to MCA (Adam Yauch) and may the boys carry on their legacy any which way they can. Rock on \m/

Nightclub DJs have only one job - to keep people dancing. It's the ultimate meritocracy. If your record makes people dance, it gets played. In the 80s, it could have been U2, Michael Jackson, David Bowie or Grandmaster Flash. Back to back to back. Great era (but maybe I'm biased).

I'm a dad of three kids ages 10,11, and 13. My job as a dad is to guide, disciple my children to be impactful adults, also exposing them to culture, art and music. You best believe the Beasties boys are on that list for real Hip Hop. RIP MCA!!

It’s pretty sad and ignorant if anyone gave them a thumbs down but I don’t see a thumbs down on this video. These guys are great human beings on top of what they did for music. The world needs more good people. I just watched the speeches from Chuck D and LL, and they were incredible. Chuck is brilliant in general and LL is an amazing and smart dude. So much respect for these 2 legends and they’re the perfect dudes to honor the Beastie Boys.

I love they give so much props to their influence. I think most hip hop fans would have loved to grow up in New York throughout the 80's and 90's

Longtime fan with them and Run DMC. One of the most unique bands ever. One of the pioneers of rap that kept the fire burning all these years. As you can see from this speech extremely intelligent bunch of guys.

I am a total Hip Hop head, I grew up with the Beastie Boys and I can't watch this without a lump in my throat. The best and worst day of their career at the same time. Rap music would not be the same without them.

Me too. First cassette I owned. Listened to it on my new Walkman Christmas morning, but I already had it all memorized from the kids playing it on the school bus every day.

I saw Beastie Boy at Lollapalooza 94. I just remember thinking after watching them do Watcha Want, Sabotage, and Gratitude. How the heck is anyone going to beat that? Well Smashing Pumpkins were under whelming and Billy Corgan was talking about how he had sex and was a rock star and his band was pretty much asleep for their set.

I would argue that without these three guys, hip hop would not have been the success it has been to this day. I would also argue that their music is so incredible, it will be shaping the future of hip hop for generations before we all even catch up to where they were.

This band has been the one constant throughout my life since I was old enough to make my own music choices. I've seen many bands, and I've enjoyed many bands but for 35 years there is only one group I hear every day, one group I just cannot resist singing/yelling along with...literally any time they come on. I have raised 4 kids, and when I'm dead and gone my kids will still smile and remember me being stupid any time they hear these legends.

I remember Ad Rock saying after MCA died that he had us fooled in the best way. I remember the emails from Oscope asking people to pray at the same time at a certain hour all together and send healing energy. I think at the time of this ceremony, we were all in disbelief that he'd actually die. He was so positive and forward thinking...it just seemed impossible at that moment. Miss his voice in the world so much!
