Beating Aggressive Coverages with the Short Roll | Ball Screen Offense 

One of the easiest ways to beat an aggressive ball screen coverage like hard hedging or blitzing is by hitting the screener on the "short roll."
Whenever the defense uses an aggressive coverage, the screener should look to short roll in space rather than rolling to the rim. This allows the ball handler to hit the short roll, which creates a numbers advantage.
