I'm working hard to get where I can have these out more frequently. I'm still not there yet though. They just take so much time to do. That said, there will be two videos next week because the next two games are short
LoL, the way comments show up yours is first and then below is a comment from Thab explaining that he's going to start releasing more than one a week (next week 2 for sure cause they are short) but he plans on trying to release them more often. So hey we all win!
It’s actually refreshing to watch someone play these games who doesn’t know every single little thing about it. As someone who is familiar with a decent amount of N64 games from my childhood, I love watching someone revisit them with little to know knowledge of them and have them experience them for the first time.
Enjoyed listening to this while I grilled pork chops. The PS1 version and its sequel are two of my favorite games of all time. As far as the story/lore being weird, you're absolutely right. They were going for a crazy mind-blowing twist, but due to being unable to rewind to hear dialogue again, a lot of players end up simply confused. The part with Juno is just too abrupt. It is, however, the most important part for understanding the sequel lol
I know it's been a while since you played this, but I wanted to point something out about the mining robot you fought. It doesn't just finish itself off, you accidentally managed the correct way to damage the boss. Those little guys that run out the door to throw a bomb? If you shoot THEM when they open the door, they fall backwards and drop the bomb inside of the robot, dealing a huge amount of damage. All of Teisel's comments and yelling at them to stop opening the hatch was supposed to hint that the trick to beating the mech involved the hatch. The intended strategy is to swap out your weapon upgrades to maximize range, then snipe the little guys from far away when they open that hatch. The only attack that can reach you is the green energy blasts, and that's easy enough to just sidestep and avoid.
I've always heard so much awful about it that this looks pretty dang good. But also, my perspective on what makes an awful N64 game has changed since watching this series.
@@inthefade The thing is... They understood that just taking the 2D Concept of Megaman and turning it 3D would go bad... And indeed it was bad ! Look at Megaman X7 ! So instead, they made a super cool universe with fun characters and animation with a lot of lore... And in the end, even if the gameplay was rough ( i personally loved the city that try to let the player be free ), that's why people still comes back to this game. The Tron Bonne crew, the mysteries, there is fans that really wanted that Megaman Legends 3 game so it's not as if Megaman 64 was forgotten today ! Really not bad for a 5/10 game.
This is a really fun game to 100% because there's a fairly decent amount of side-quests and tools you can collect! If you're not a dick to the artist lady, she opens up a museum you can fill with objects from the ruins. And you can get rollerskates and the iconic MegaMan helmet if you search through the ruins! Fun game. Definitely one of my favorite RPGs. Super bummed the Legends series is basically dead now 😞
There's a reputation score in the game. By doing bad deeds or answering questions negatively, including calling yourself hippopotamus, will cause your score to go down. Having a negative score affects the way people talk to you and increases sale prices, plus darken your body armor. Having a positive score will cause people to talk positively about you and decrease sale prices, plus lighten your body armor. Just stating in case anyone was interested.
You can actually save in the middle of the boat section. At the start of the boss, Roll asks you if you to retreat and thats your cue to go back, save and come back with full health
Something I love about your videos is you almost never blow my speakers out with screaming or obnoxious behavior. Silly sometimes maybe, but objectively funny behavior is awesome, keep it up!
Love this series ThaB! I have so many favorites from that era, - Golden Eye - TetrisSphere (I would play for hours and be in a borderline trance state) - Blastcorps - Star Fox 64 - Mario 64 of course Loved the Vigilante 8 play thru, that one was tough but a ton of fun. I'm really excited to see you play Blast Corps though. I don't think I ever beat that game and each vehicle has such different physics it was hard to get truly good at it!
"how do the pirates have so much money to afford all this?" That's easy, the dog-kicking game show doesn't discriminate. Fun fact: the sequels to this game are some of the rarest games on PlayStation. They made them exclusive to the PlayStation for some reason and skipped the N64. Also they were done in two parts Megaman Legends and Megaman Legends 2... Megaman 64 is only the first part of the story.
No, that's not quite right. Megaman 64 and Megaman Legends are the same game. Legends 2, however, is a sequel to 64, and you're right that it's a Playstation exclusive.
Also, Mega Man 64 came out pretty much at the same time the sequel was released on PS1. Since MM64 was already very late in the N64 lifecycle, not the biggest of shocks MML2 wasn't ported.
Im currently this far through your playlist and I think youre awesome, i really like your format and i look forward to bingeing the rest (waiting for the resident evil roll)
At 17:30 i know you said he grab the crystal in the most awkward way possible, but actually is a throw back from the begging of the game you know, waiting for a trap hahahahahahha
This game had so much content in it. Especially getting all upgrades and the missions were pretty immersive for the time it came out. A lot of replay value for sure! Not to mention the adult jokes and explicit encounters lol
@@tghooker5123 Same, it's a bit grander in scope but just lacks the charm of the original. Also I think they changed voice actors which is a shame because the VA for the first game is great.
One of my favorite little things on the game is, in the first section of the city you kick the can inside the store, you get like 1thousand zenys. But if you do it repeatedaly your armor gets darker, like really dark blue
The PlayStation original is one of my favorite games of all time! Glad to see you got some enjoyment out of it, too. Y'know, I don't think I ever got the Kevlar Vest Omega on any of my playthroughs... I should use your strat of grinding the dog kicking minigame xD
This strat is good midgame but It's faster to get the vacuum upgrade and go in and out of the subgate in downtown and kill all the enemies each time. This is end game but it's how I maxed out the shining laser which costs over 1 million zenny to max out
I really enjoyed this game as a kid, and I'm glad you did too. I probably rate it higher, but I love these branch outs into RPGs from mainstream franchises... I'm also a sucker for Paper Mario 64.
This game did everything OoT did, and did it first, but gets none of the credit. And I don't know why people complain about L1/R1 so much either, that was pretty normal in the pre-dual analog stick era
@@cosmosofinfinity ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z0_OuuBNcc0.html there's actually a like spiritual successor type game coming out in january
This is actually Mega Man Legends for playstation, it was ported to N64 but had to include 64 in the title like every other game N64 game which confuses the series. Unfortunately the N64 did not get the rest of the Mega Man Legends series including Mega Man Legends 2, and The Misadventures of Tron Bonne. Nowadays a copy of Misadventures of Tron Bonne cost over $350 on ebay for a jewel cased copy.
Megaman legends was a top 3 game for me on the PSone, and probably top 20 of all time! I have fond memories of not hanging out with friends and playing this on a Friday or Saturday night in middle school
Tons of Love for Megaman Legend's, only played it on the Ps1 and I didn't know know the 64 version existed as well till a few years back. Still kills me the Ds Megaman legends game got cancled....
Megaman Legends is a very charming game. I remember playing it quite a bit on the PS1. Didn't play all the way through it until i was a little older. It has an odd story, but its still a lot of fun. I remember the underground levels scary the crap out of me as a kid. Never played the N64 version, so no idea if it has any real differences.
