Honestly if you were a kid who bought these books at the book fair, these were a pretty good way to both start reading, and learn how to play minecraft in the days before fan wikis were everywhere (and even if they were, it was likely you were going to get 16 viruses from them lol). I remember these books, and a lot of the tips in them were genuinely helpful, like getting a compass and clock to help find your way
I used these books to actually play in survival 😂😂😅 back when they came out. I always had to use the combat book to see how to make every potion. I know how to build so I dont need the building book 😎😎😎😎😎😏
My family had all of them and I loved them! Heck little me couldn’t even read but she loved looking through them and she loved the pictures. I remember looking at the potions page and thinking People memorized this?!
These books capitalize on the energy of the early Minecraft era, when we weren't sure what was in the game and just figured it out. Minecraft wiki down for some reason, people mixing mod crafting recipes with real ones, it felt like everyone who knew their shit could write a strategy guide on the game. But everyone's would be different, not everyone knew everything yet. Anyone remember how the first minecraft guide smelled? I saved up money to preorder the book with my Scholastic Book Fair school, got it in a walmart bag for some reason lmao and it smelled weird, super hype but still not certain why it smelled so unique
It depends on the type of editing and the type of RU-vidr. Less edited survival videos are more likely to have the music on. If the editing is more present then RU-vidrs will probably not have their music on, because they are going to put in thier own music anyway. When you look at minigame RU-vidrs they usually use music to set the mood in editing so, random Minecraft music would really mess that up.
I remember buying this set from the Scholastic Book Fair back when I was in 6th grade! I think I enjoyed looking over the books more than playing the actual game. Nice video!
Yeah I never really played survival but I LOVED the builder's handbook. Gonna be honest I'm not even sure if I actually built anything out of it but I read it all the time lol
Same! I got them in first grade and would get terrified at the pictures of the mobs. Nowadays I’m the kind of person who sucks at the game but knows a lot about how to play it.
Bro the Xbox 360 was and still is goated. Introduced me to almost every major gaming genre, and got me into Minecraft. Great times, even today with cross play and mods. THE BABY PIG 3:10 Edit - 3:00 I mean. Dam 🦫 Edit #2 - 2:57 I mean. Dam 🦫 🦫
You know, I was thinking to myself "did anyone ever actually seriously use these books aside from just fun little experiments like these?" until I realized that I had been doing the farming from the handbook for years until I learned of the modern, more efficient way. On top of that, I had also been using the "dig in a hill" trick if I hadn't built a house yet. It's awesome to see things like this.
The Redstone one was actually half decent for its time, and taught me a LOT about basic circuits as a kid. I think it was partially authored by CubeHamster (I could be fully wrong there, someone correct me if so), so it was actually genuinely helpful. I don't think it explained stuff like BUD Switches, or QuasiConnectivity. It's also obviously out of date with the huge additions of the observer and target block.
A lot of minecraft channels can just seem like the lowest common denominator of mass produced content, this channel seems like a really refreshing break in that. Keep up the good work!
I remember these books. My parents agreed to buy them for me when we saw them in a shop, but they forgot. I took them and walked out the store, as I didn’t know what robbery was at the time. My mum practically had a panic attack when she discovered what I’d done.
I had (and I believe I still might have it in here somewhere!) the construction handbook. The builds included in the book were actually pretty interesting, but are of course now dated due to the addition of many new blocks. The instructions however were... not exhaustive, to say the least, so you mostly had to use the given picture for reference. I distinctly remember how one build used two anvils for a cooking grill. Very creative!
I remember wanting those back in 2014/15/16 and i just never got my mum to buy them for me, but all in all they hold up really good almost 10 years later!
i really like your narration! this video was a really great run down memory lane! i remember for my 10th birthday my mom got me the box set of the guides (i still have them in my room!)
all i have to say about this video is that 1. i really like your voice and the way you speak. Its very relaxing and this video was great to watch before I went to bed. 2. I found this video by chance and its really nostalgic, I used to use thoose handbooks to play minecraft as a kid on my ps3, the good ol days
I still have these books, thanks for making me pick it up again! They are so nostalgic, you missed some minor tasks but i'll let it slide heh. Great video.
these books were my childhood. i tried everything in all of them, but the only practical one was the TNT tree trap. also the same genshin impact ad kept playing over this video
i remember getting the first one for my 9th birthday :) still have it. always used it step by step just because. so seeing someone else play the game that way felt really good
The books had some good advice. I like that It stated to make a shelter on your first night and get a bed. These are crucial things to do for people new to Minecraft.
I remember my first book in the series was the redstone handbook. Fast forward to today and I have all the original books (pre-updated guides for those who aren't familiar). The books still have some details that are accurate to the game, while some aren't.
I remember having all 4 books when I was younger, looking back it feels like the stones for the infinity gauntlet. I'm sad I can only find one of them to this day but man those books bring in the feels
STOP OMG i remember getting my brother the redstone one for christmas the year they came out because he always wanted to figure out how to do redstone 😭😭 THE MEMORIESSSS
My dad used my brother's handbooks on our ps3 when he did his world. He planned to dig out underneath the entire world, and when we got more controllers, we helped him
