Cheers for support guys :D If you want to volunteer for youtube challenges (you won't know which) or standard B2GM, head to the discord channel where I will be calling for players once in a while discord.gg/sCTYquEd
@@Kr-oy2bo Why do you think hes asking for volunteers, and why do you think this was a custom game? If you watch the first five minutes of the video, OR read this comment, OR read the other comments before yours complimenting PIG about his approach, you might answer your own questions.
Wut?! pig not smurfing?! ... I thought it was all kool to smurf and cheat under GM. It makes the game so much more fun for you and we never care about our opponents..! (exluding the ad revenue gained from exploiting them, We are thankful for that part!) The game is NOT dying just cuz most people cheat and smurf..! There is still 30k player on every week!
@@Evirthewarrior There was never going to be any consequence. So what if he lost on his smurf account. The only thing that smurfing would have done in the ladder was be shit for the people that are just trying to have fun after whatever day they've had with a fair match. It's why they joined ranked.
@@treasureboxgaming7109 I just do not agree fundamentally. if it is not on the ladder or for money, there are absolutely zero stakes and not entertaining because I know it is just a practice game with someone that is not really invested in the game.
Hi Pig! Gadget here (3rd opponent). When this happened I just started playing again. I didn't play ladder since WoL, only played the HotS and LotV campaigns and haven't paid attention to the game since. I only had my placement matches in, so my MMR was not yet set properly. It had dropped down a bit since this match. I volunteered for Pig's new B2GM challenge as a low MMR opponent. So I thought no silly stuff would happen in this game. So I thought the best thing to do was just focus on my build (the basic Pig Terran B2GM build) and just macro as well as I could. At the time I was very pleased with how it went actually. I think I forgot a few things, but that's to be expected, for example the +1 upgrade. When I moved out I just a moved to about two thirds across the map, as Pig thought me :D and went back to macroing. When I realised my army was caught it was already almost dead. I hadn't played an opponent that uses the same color as Pig did before. So when the first drones came into my base I was very confused. I remember thinking "those drones have a strage color, are they some sort of hallucination that I didn't know was possible?" and was completely thrown offguard. I also didn't know that those mineral patches were so easily removed. So I was even more confused when a shitload of drones came from that angle. At that point I honestly didn't know what to do anymore. I barely had an economy, most my units were gone. My tank was the MVP for Pig, and I will never forget his treachery. So, all in all, I actually think I played okay. My build was going better than ever before and I obviously never had any hope of winning. After sobbing in the shower for a few hours all sense of humiliation wore off and I had a good chuckle about the match. Was very fun to play! Thank you Pig for this lesson in humilty :)
Drones can become buildings and buildings can release broodlings. You could use your extra resources to upgrade all of your hatcheries to lairs and hives for more health. Also could build evo chambers to wall and when they die they'll release broodlings. That way if the opponent kills your buildings, they'll get punished by spores, spines, broodlings, and drones. Oh and mass overseers to spam changelings to be extra annoying.
didn't even research burrow, what a scrub haha great vid, thanks for uploading! one more suggestion, I think its interesting but might violate your self imposed rules but... can you make vipers to pull the enemies into your drone mobs?
@@PiGstarcraft yeah I guess the idea is that if you have to base trade, you'll have sooo much more stuff that it takes them longer and they hurt themselves while doing it.
Yeah @@PiGstarcraft you didn't build any spines in this series. If you use these ideas (broodlings, spines, etc.) maybe you could take on even higher rated players - that would be awesome to watch!
What a crazy challenge! I'm noticing that every video you seem a lot more comfortable playing and casting at the same time instead of going full Gamer Mode ™ with the tongue out
Agreed - I think anything a drone can make is fair game. I also think you should be allowed to build a couple of zerglings early game so you can hide your build even more but not be allowed to attack with them. Confuse your opponent by losing your first two zerglings really cheaply. You should also be able to build fake buildings like roach warrens, banelings nests etc all as red herrings.
If you want to keep some of the authenticity of the ladder experience, you could have a place for people to volunteer for videos (literally just videos, nothing specific), that way they’re still volunteering but without knowing what series they are volunteering for. All they know is they’re volunteering to be in a PiG video/series, but which one they are selected for is a mystery to them.
that's exactly what happened. The only thing is KaldisRelm has been around for a lot of the different crazy challenges I've been preparing/messing around with so he was able to figure out what the restriction was
Oh my lord! This is so cool! :) Use more tools please: droplords with speed, drons with borrow, +3 armor, proxy hatch on their base + spores, etc :) Thanks!
Will have to loosen the restrictions and harass more in the earlygame to get through gold and plat! Hopefully can mix in some crazy rushes and proxy hatcheries to get it through diamond league!
1. Build nydus close to producing hatches for quicker fill rates (as in core 3 + 3-6 assisting) 2. Harass earlier with proxy hatch - will look & feel like they shut down your cheese (while you macro up behind it) 3. Drone stack in an early push (pre-tank) to get their workers off the line (loss of mining time is a bigger loss to them)
Ohhh, i just had a dirty idea In one of your other challenges, try fake a mass drones build, let them scout it and hardwall, then do a rapid tech switch to your actual build (probably stick the tech in corner bases so they don't scount) and shatter them with whatever other stupidity you have going on.
That map control was a thing of beauty. Can your oppenent ever clean you up in early mid-game without you just re-expanding after their army moves on? I'd love to see you take the kid gloves off allow yourself to attack with queens and spine crawlers... just to see how far you can take the build if you play your heart out.
Spine crawls should count as long as you my rush them...if you make enough bases to get creep there, you can have spines!! But the creep must be touching your home base!
I've done this challenge (not even with queens) and not doing the super early drone rush (definitely doing drone harrashment though) . But i've won vs some diamond, highest was a diamond 1 player and i nearly nearly got a m3 player but he started hard turtling on 1base making tanks after i overran his natural :( , the unit lost at the end of that game insane :D
This might be the dumbest challenge Ive ever seen and I effin' love it. Zero chance I would die to this as a geriatric plat casual. That said, I'm quite familiar with the Devil's lettuce and I'm not so sure I could keep my shit together well enough to micro against Pig with 200 effin' drones in my base 😂
I think you should be allowed to have 20 queens as long as you’re using them for base defense mostly and not attacking with them directly to the opponents base - EDIT maybe add a queen per league ranking up? Or something like that. Definitely will be interesting to see this play out
Funny enough, the way you are playing is kind of what I expected from the ai the first time I played StarCraft 1 so very long ago. Tons of bases and seemingly infinite grunts to blast! I'd build up a massive army while defending against waves of attacks (I know this is not the right way to play, multiplayer came later) only to walk into desolate, mined out bases with multiple non unit producing buildings. Ironically, your strategy is the ultimate comp stomp strat that many noobs expect to face after they first install the game!
Proposition: You may build spine crawlers, but you may not MOVE spine crawlers. Spine crawlers are allowed to uproot but they can only be placed where they were originally built. That way you can wall with them if you want to, and open it temporarily if you really want to. Gives you another option for holding off harassing units.
If they wall off you could nydus worm drones into their base. Would it be smart? Probably not, but is any of this lol Oh spoke to early in the vid he nydus's lol.
@@asdfqwerty9241 There's a video of an 3/3 maxed ultralisk beating 500 probes. So yeah, the ultra wins easily. Although the 3/3 is somewhat important, because if the ultra has 4 armour, the worker's damage is doubled (from 0.5 per hit to 1 per hit) and with 3 armour, workers deal 2 dmg per hit, which then might get the ultra killed vs 200 drones actually. Not sure if it does.
I thought you were going to do a more normal B2GM series? last week you did the Ling bane build. Are you still going to continue that B2GM series? Thanks piG! Fun stuff nonetheless!
hey mate that's on my coaching channel! first ep vs bronze/silvers is up ru-vid.com - there'll be a new episode every week, just recorded one yesterday on stream for gold league
I think it could be fun to play a workers only game where both sides can only make workers. It could be a cool challenge for some pro players to face off in too.
I did probe worker rush up to mid masters, you want to do it right, rush 11 workers while slowly building up with the rest. stack em as one and pretend its a scout. If you "cheat" and distract your opponent with an open question or something that will cause them to respond as your worker stack arrives lookin like a scout, then it can easily take you to mid GM. its hilarious
yeah straight rushing can get you incredibly high. When I run into a brick wall I'll do try that in the final episode of this challenge. Seeing how far we can get without going all out on the mineral stacking trick to see how far we can get first though :D
@@PiGstarcraft mineralstacking is super easy though, grab 11 workers at start, shift click them to run in front of the nexus so they dont return, then when they all have money in their mouthes, stack and then look at enemy mineral line, as soon as you dont see return minerals in the tooltip, click on enemy mineral line. If they are slightly spread, use other mineral lines along the way to smush em closer, meaning, when they are running perpendicular to a different mineral line, tell em to mine it then the enemies mineral when they get close, should guarantee perfect stack into 1 worker.
With enough nydus's, can you block the bottom of his ramp, or block the depots at the top, so his pathing gets messed up when trying to amove up and down?
I found out this was a volunteer basis and unranked and lost interest, it only is interesting to me if they are people that actually care about winning. When you take away the element of consequence to losing by doing unranked matches with volunteers, it loses all the interesting factors. If there was money on the line or rank or anything to make it interesting it might be a good series, but this isn't it. This is like doing a weird play in a practice match in a sport, it may be interesting but it was practice. If it were in a normal game, then it would have been cool.
I think few minutes into defensive spine crawlers and 10+ min (or something) offensive spine crawlers should be okay when it's obvious that continuing on *just* drones will just blatantly lose you the game. Obviously in the higher tiers defending with a single queen and drones isn't going to work against an decent higher MMR enemy. Watching X to Grandmaster is fun, however it is more fun when the possibility of winning is there, not when a game is just lost because of being TOO harsh on the limits. (I am AGAINST spine rushes for this challenge as it's of course an entirely different kind of playstyle, but in the end, whatever a DRONE creates should be fair game.) Also, even if you do multiple challenges at the same time, people will know which challenge you're doing after an early scout. So not only will games go harder as you go to higher MMR, they will also get harder because people can realize what challenge you're doing and just counter it. (The con of volunteers vs random ladder) I also think you should make a spire just in case a terran decides to base race and lift his buildings. Especially in higher MMRs I have no doubt that workers + 3 queens will just die to any decent sized army where you'll die in any base race.
I thought i was the only one who did this LOL protip from one drone rusher to another if you do extractor trick to make a quick 16 drones then rush to the otherside of the map you can win many games this way.. i made it to masters lol
