Tommy Emmanuel KTBA cruise Med. 2 Before playing, He asked the crowd if there were fans of the Rolling Stones. When the crowd cheered Yes, He said Cool I'm going to play some Beatles! The crowd loved it.
I couldnt play one of the opening chords in Those who wait correctly despite hours practicing, so when I met him I asked him about it and he told me I had to "get to work" and if I did one day I would be able to play it exactly correct. After about a month of trying to get this chord right I was about to give up and then remembered another thing he said, he said "dont give up", so I kept at it. A few nights later it rang out perfectly to my amazement and now it seems easy but the effort it took to get there is a reminder of the level this guy plays at and the hours he has put into it. Every one of his songs has nuther level things in it. The guy is a living legend on and off the stage.
As a kid I remember the great Roy Clark playing on Hee Haw, he didn't just "play" the guitar but he was a performer who entertained with his physical comedic expressions. Tommy reminds me of that legendary style of entertaining.
You have connected your soul, heart and body and magic comes out of your hands. We are lucky to have you and besides, you are an excellent person, what more could we want, THANK YOU
Tommy Emanuel, it is not enough that you are such an amazing talented , fabulous guitar player but you also had to be such a cheerful and happy human being that just listening to you play becomes a lovely , lively and happy amazing experience ! Thank you so much !!!! Bravissimo!!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I play guitar and I get in to my music when I play but I swear this guy has probably spent more time out of his body while playing than most people do. It's a gift from a higher power!
Watched this guy for two hours live last night…. He keeps this energy for 2hrs straight. It’s absolutely f***ing mental. Most insane guitarist I’ve seen with my own two eyes.
Eric Clapton said that SRV had stuff flowing through him without thinking. Tommy is the same way. He states he is an Australian but that’s just where he landed from a planet unknown to us Earthlings! 🎉❤
Thank you for sharing this with us, he did his best as always, great performance. I'm sure you had an amazing time there, yes he is wonderful as a person as well :)
@@tenzing2090 I'm guessing the person meant empathetic? As in he's always helping others out, giving lessons, speaking to his fans, signing autographs etc...Just a super humble guy. That's my guess lol.
That was an over the top performance ...the man can play and is a CGP in the Chet Atkins -Leo Kottke -JP Cormier league of great players....great work Tommy Emmanuel !
Met him this last spring at the Rochester Jazz Fest and the most humble, generous and just plain honorable guy you could ever meet! And his playing is magic and clean sorcery at the same time!
And he just loves the young players, the next generation. All over RU-vid you can find clips of him playing with so many young performers. And he always plays to their level. But in a way you don't notice.
If you put your heart and soul into it you can become better than him! NO YOU WON'T. That's like saying I want to be Michael Jordan. I've seen technically faster players but they have nothing to offer.
@@dratonbalat3423 fast playing is overrated, there’s millions of fast players, I’m fast, he’s just one of those players that makes the guitar an extension of himself, something all the greats have in common, it’s a marvel to watch and enjoy
Great guitar playing from Tommy as always. I’ve been fortunate enough to see him live 4 times. You really feel entertained at a T. E. show, he’s so much more than a musician! If you ever get the chance, I implore you to see him. You will cherish the memory for the rest of your days! But Tommy, those jeans!!! Looks like you borrowed them from your teenage grandson!!! 😳😳🤦
