Guitar Boogie - Tommy Emmanuel at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass San Francisco 20231001 

Someone once told me that Tommy Emanuel was the two best guitarists in the world. I believe it…….and probably the third as well.

No doubt about it, Tommy still has it. After seeing him perform since the early 80’s his performances are still as great today as they were way back when.

Just can't watch Tommy play without cracking a smile! Fantastic!

I imagine quite a few in this crowd were shaking their heads when Tommy started playing, and then absolutely dug it. I had a similar experience seeing Michael Hedges perform at Strawberry Music Festival years back. I knew what to expect, having seen him come about in Palo Alto, but I think he tore the heads off most of the audience that day. They were used to hearing the Bluegrass players, and then Michael comes on playing Emminence Front with a guitar sound as big as you can imagine.....just jaw dropping, and Tommy has that same effect!

Non guitarists May not realise how much more difficult it is to play acoustic than electric. The strings need to be much thicker for the volume (as no pickups) and therefore harder to press down ( the action). I've seen him in Warwick and he's the best guitarist on the planet

All the California weed smoke must add something Tommy's improvisations.

Loved the way he turned to the camera man so he could get the shot. Saw him live once. Was disappointed because half the show was some other musician playing then Tommy came on but the other guy stayed. I came to hear Tommy and was forced to listen the other guy.
