Beatrice Ferrant Uncouture Paris - A Sustainable Fashion Brand in Paris
'I left Balenciaga to save the planet' ClimateStory 17
Béatrice Ferrant spent many years working at big Parisian fashion houses like Dior and Balenciaga.
A consumate insider of the fashion industry, Beatrice designed dozens of runway collections, and dressed many of the world's most famous people -- including Michelle Obama and Beyonce.
But it was many years before she realised the world needed a more sustainable fashion-house. And in 2020 she founded Uncouture, a Parisian fashion brand based on sustainable principles, earning B-Corp status along the way.
In this episode of ClimateStory, we explore why Beatrice left the glamorous world of Dior and Balenciaga, to focus on creating a whole new genre of sustainable couture - her recycled, and responsible clothing often costing hundreds of dollars for a single dress.
ClimateStory features leaders in sustainable entrepreneurship from around the world. Don't forget to subscribe for weekly episodes on food, technology, and fashion.
