The playing of the Scriabin by Beatrice Rana was simply outstanding: her performance of the op 42 no 5 was truly breathtaking, which is perhaps appropriate as the tempo indication is marked Breathless. The slower, earlier étude was played with such character and ideal voicing and 'rubato' (which was more just allowing the music to speak and breathe).
Wonderful quote, and splendidly written introduction to novella Dante's Beatrice! Heard many times live, Beatrice is authenticity personified, radiant presence, deepest musicality, with the extremely rare gift to accompany us in a journey trough Inferno and Paradiso.
The scriabin here is definitely better than when I heard her a few weeks ago. I wondered then if it was because it was the first part of her program and she hadn‘t yet gotten comfortable with the instrument or acoustics. Because the chopin and beethoven afterwards were great.
