For her all-Chopin program, Beatrice Rana has chosen to include the 4 Scherzi, which trace through important moments of the composer's life. Discover the album: w.lnk.to/brcLY
"I studied the Scherzi during the first lockdown caused by the pandemic, and I feel that these compositions, packed with myriad contrasts, have a lot in common with many people’s experiences during this exceptionally difficult period. Music is like that: it has the power to describe what we are living through far more eloquently than we can ourselves." - Beatrice Rana

That was just amazing and beautiful. Hands bring out such subtlety. Other times she has enormous strength. The piece is so difficult and yet she carries it off almost toying with it. I have found a new pianist. What an inspiration. Thank you for playing and sharing this.

@Mazzel Tov Hi Mazzel! Fortunately today there are many extraordinary young pianists, at international level: Yuja Wang, Khatia Buniatishvili, Jan Lisiecki, Vikingur Olafsson, Daniil Trifonov and many others. I don't know if Beatrice Rana is better or not, I think this is a matter of personal taste, but I think her way to play is really uncommon. Generally before listening a Trifonov or Buniatishvili performance (for example), I know what to expect, great interpretations, of course, but predictable. Instead every recitals of Beatrice Rana is a real surprise. Her way to play each melody of a counterpoint, her phrasing, the lyricism, the pursuit of beautiful sound, her fidelty to the score, a very solid and powerful technique, all these qualities form a unique balance in Beatrice Rana. For example, listen to her Prokofiev piano concertos, her Ravel's Miroirs or Stravinsky's Petrushka. What do you tink about? Bye!!

Purposeful is an apt word for her playing. I'm a big fan; with her I always get the sense of "this is how I feel this piece", never "this is how I think you want me to play it". It's this honesty in her interpretations that for me marks her out as a true artist, compared with many young players. There's no acting involved.
