The reason why you see a whale shark in the music video is because Qatar has the second largest reserve of whale sharks in the world ( Mexico being the first spot that has a lot of whale sharks ). The whale shark has nothing to do with BTS.

Regarding the the pearls, before oil and gas was discovered in qatar, men would embark in long journeys far into the ocean to dive and find pearls as a living as they would dive of 18 meters into the ocean for as long as 2 minutes to collect pearls as a living. Moreover, the important presence of the whale sharks not only sticks to the theme of Qatar’s sea life, but also highlights the animal’s great number in Qatar. In fact, Qatar has one of the globe’s largest whale shark concentrations, with its waters serving as a safe environment for the sea animal.
