I did something REALLY unfair in trying the 1792 Bottled In Bond and THEN trying The Whistler, a high-proof Irish Whiskey, since I didn't try it on St. Patrick's Day like I should have. That part of the bourbcast didn't go well, but it's pretty funny. The 1792 Bottled In Bond is released once a year, 100 proof, considered a high-rye mashbill and debuted in the Fall of 2017.
This Whistler is part of the Single Cask series and a special OHLQ release. It's a triple-distilled single malt, finished in P.X. Sherry Hogshead casks after resting for 5 years and 9 months in ex-bourbon barrels. Interestingly, each Hogshead cask is a $600 investment, holds 66 gallons and comes from Delgado, one of the oldest active sherry producers in Spain. It's a very popular barrel for finishing Irish Whisky.
This is a "rebroadcast" of our Facebook Live "Bourbcast". Better than a podcast, the bourbcast is a live video broadcast, interactive, and can be seen LIVE each Thursday at 7:00pm EST, at beautifulbourbon
