Now that's a huge fish finger sandwich! Lol Go for it, Wills! Lol A 1697 bathhouse? Wow! The flowers are beautiful at Bath Gardens. Glad you took a rest! Lol All Saints Church looks Amazing. Lolol...a pit stop pint time for Wills is always a must. Lol I love pudding and that's an Incredible story. Bakewell is a Wonderful area. I completely enjoyed the entire tour. Thanks So Much for sharing and super congratulations on nealy 7K subs....and counting!👍
It's so so pretty there. We loved it. Yep that was a beast of a fish finger sandwich! We loved the story of the Bakewell pudding and there is so much more around that areas we would love to see and do! Thanks for your early congrats, We've got a way to go yet, but we're so chuffed on the channel growth. Cheers 🍻
Great shout outs! Rachel from Britain on a Budget is a long time friend of at least 4 years. And thanks to you two legends, I just "met" Grape Soda Travels this past week. I loved their puffin video!🩷🩷
Ohhhh, how beautiful is this? Really enjoyed a postcard and a pint wander around some of the most beautiful towns! Bakewell is very much up there, love to see it, mind you the Peaks are so beautiful. Epic culinary options on display, so cool to see and hear about the Bakewell Puddings. That Chutney looked so yummy! Stunning Allsaints church, beautiful architecture from the 1840s, what incredible history. Loved watching the Bakewell pie/pudding taste test, it looks yum! I was just about to say it looks like a pastel de nata? lol! Yummy though! I'm really liking the streets and the Georgian and Victorian buildings. Beautiful. Thank you so much both, it was an excellent video!! xx
Thanks so much for watching. We definitely want to go back as there is so much more we want to see and do in that area. When you guys go, do try a pudding!!! They are like the Del Nata, but more almondy. Cheers for watching 🍻
Hi rach and wills 😊 it looks a beautiful town, very picturesque. That looked a good stop to have a bite to eat. Fabulous weather how lucky! The church looked very nice and that was a very beautiful place by the water to enjoy your Bakewell tarts 😊 wow lots of fish in the water that’s cool. Lovely very beautiful there.
Aww! You were in our neck of the woods! O my about 20 miles as the crow flies over the tops. Glad you enjoyed it. So jealous you met up with the Grape Soda’s too! We could have all had a reight sesh 😂🍻 Cheers to the good times 👍🏻
Ah I wished we'd known. What a lovely place it is!! So picturesque and quaint. Next time we're in that neck of the woods we'll give you a shout. Cheers 🍻
What a lovely video, we haven’t properly explored Bakewell as when we visited it was a whistle stop pop in. Looks like it’s well worth a look around, that sweet shop looked brilliant. Totally get the traffic challenge too! (Think that’s why I missed it out when we last went to the Peak District). We love the Peak District, Chatsworth house is epic. Hope you’re both good, have a great week, All the very best, David & Rachel 👍
We really want to visit Chatsworth house and Haddon hall and the cave nearby! We definitely need to go back on other time. We'll try it out of season I think just to see, but it was a shame it was a bottle neck for traffic! Cheers for watching 🍻
What a beautiful town!!!! Hope you’ll return and stay over to show us more. You two were cracking me up eating the warm pudding! 😂😂😂😂! Fun video yes felt like the old PC&P. Great job guys! ~Cara ❤
Ah thanks Cara. It was a lovely day out. We can't wait for the time when we can spend a few days in places and see all thatnwe want to see! Cheers for watching - and the pudding was excellent!!! 🍻
It’s a gem of a place. Even better in the sun. Top drawer historical facts Rach! Love that you explore all the museums. The Bakewell puddings surprised us when we 1st tasted them… very yummy and defo better warm. And loving the Rik shirt Wills! Enjoyed this .. Thanks Guys.
If that question is for Cooks Explore, the answer is probably way before us!! We currently don't have another booked, but definitely want to do something in the new year. 🍻
Thx @PostcardAndAPint - We cruise again in the new year too for a big adventure.. Have some non cruise trips before year end which we are really excited about .. December will be a trip of a lifetime we hope ..
Mmm fish finger sarnie, great choice Wills. Bakewell Gin? The gardens really do look well cared for. I bet the Church was refreshingly cool. Fanny Pit, what a great name, £6.50 well spent. That looks like a nice Bakewell. Nice occupancy rates on the high street. Did get some amazing weather on this one. Will check out your friends channel! 👍
It was great food at the pudding shop, highly recommend it! Fanny Pitt was the highlight of my day and well worth £6.50. It was very touristy, but with tourists you get a good high street with lots of businesses! The puddings were great and the weather even better. They're such a cute couple are the Grape Sodas, it was lovely to meet them. Cheers 🍻
A lovely neck of the woods. I visited a zillion years ago with my parents so it's great to retrace our steps via you guys! Thanks for the shout out. It was awesome to catch up with you too! Cheers to the good times! N&Nx
Hey guys, We watched this on Sunday night after returning from a weekend away with Pete's sister, so apologies for the late comment, we will get our you tube act together one of these days😂🙈. Bakewell looked idyllic, chocolate box was right Wills, and as we would say, it was very 'Twee'. Pete has visited before when he went mountain bike riding around that area, but i have never been, so i have made him promise to take me one day so i can experience the delights of a bakewell pudding, and maybe even a bakewell Gin too! 😋🍸. Fanny pit had us in stitches!😂😂. Cute little museum. We are big fans of a bakewell tart, but never heard of the pudding, loved the story of how it came to be! It looked like it might taste similar to a pastel de nata maybe? Either way, it looked yummy! Much better warmed up, don't mind us Wills, you finish your pudding😂🍮👌. Really enjoyed the vibe of this video guys, classic postcard! Bring on the next adventure! Hope you are both having a good week, Cheers Shell and Pete 😊👊👍
Ah thanks guys. Pete definitely needs to get his life sorted and take you to Bakewell!! The pudding isn't as custardy as the de nata, but the pastry is just as flakey! Definitely go for a visit. It's a place we want to go back to for at least 3 nights. There is loads to see and do around that area. We'll wait for you guys to try the pudding gin!!! Cheers 🍻
What a beautiful village, looked very busy, I remember the little sweet shops and some sold bags of broken biscuits. We are going to see British Lion and Iron Maiden this week so Wills might like to watch those videos 😊
It's stunning. A bit crowded on an August Sunday, but so picturesque! Oo Wills will be looking out for those vlogs and will be very jealous too! Cheers 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint unfortunately for me I didn’t think they were doing FTTB anymore so didn’t keep up my maiden membership, I thought the $600 v.i.p. Early entry pack was the only early entry so this will be my first time not on the barrier sadly.
I have been to Bakewell thanks to friends who live in the midlands and who were shocked that I had never heard of a Bakewell tart! The pudding wasn't mentioned and I think I would have preferred the pudding, I'm not fond of icing (too sweet!) The town of Bakewell is lovely, very picture postcard rural Britain, from memory I think we got a dreary rainy day, seeing it in bright sunshine, it really is gorgeous.
We totally agree. The pudding is way nicer than the over commercialised tart - thanks to Mr Kipling. We were so blessed with the weather this day. It is so pretty there. Cheers for watching 🍻
Bakewell is on our list to visit and you've certainly made it look like a really pretty place for a wander. They can keep their Bakewell Tarts though as the taste offends me lol. The cafe looked amazing as did your lunch. I'm pleased to hear there are some pedestrianised streets as we recently visited Skipton and it was awful with the volume of traffic. Yes we love Susan Calman, but don't think we've seen this episode, will have to have a hunt! Have a great week both of you - Nettie.
Cheers Nettie. Sadly it is a bottleneck for traffic, but just by having a few streets pedestrianised made it a lot better. It's so so pretty! We loved the puddings! I preferred them over Bakewell tarts. I think this episode of Susan was either series 2 or 3. We do love her programmes. Cheers for watching and we hope you enjoy Bakewell. 🍻
I used to bake Bakewell Tarts - sadly the recipe I used is lost. I’ve not found one that matches it. Mine was an old one and I find the ‘updated’ versions just don’t taste the same. I’m so glad I got to visit Bakewell through your lens and via Rach’s dialogue. Fantastic. New mics? Clear sound. Fabulous weather too. Another one to be proud of. Cheers - for the good times 🎉! Greetings from a hot France. 🇳🇱😎🥝
I bet yours were amazing! We've heard from reliable sources what an amazing cook your are!! Yep new mics, we're getting our heads around them and hope they do make a difference on the sound. Cheers for watching 🍻
I've been to Bakewell (before having a YT channel) and it was so rushed that I only got a tart in original shop and then dashed off. We need to go again and spend longer! And NOT cram in a trip to Chatsworth House the same day. If you have not already seen Chatsworth, it is a MUST!!!
@@PostcardAndAPint We want to go back too! Let us know when you are scheduling a trip. We have been to Chatsworth House three times, but that was all before we had a channel. I need to go back and do a vlog of it!
It's been a while since I was in the Peak District. I think we drove through Bakewell but didn't stop 😮 on the way to Matlock Bath. Looks like we'll have to return now. Great video Wills and Rach.
One aspect of travelling is sampling the local foods, especially tarts. There is so much to explore in the area, definitely worth going back. Such a fun video.
I live about an hour's drive from Bakewell so I've been there many times. Once, before I was born, my mum went there with the rest of the family, and as was the custom, they'd all dressed in their Sunday best, my mum being particularly proud of her new white shoes. Down by the river, a discussion started about what was the best way to call ducks, i.e. if you say "chi chi chi chi" to a cat, what do you say to a duck? Mum thought she'd read that it was "biddy biddy biddy biddy", so to prove her point, she went up to the largest duck in sight and said "biddy biddy biddy biddy". The duck looked at her in horror, squawked loudly, and ran right across her feet, emptying it's bowels as it did so, leaving mum standing there with her new white shoes covered in duck sh*t. My uncles nearly choked laughing. She had to go to the ladies and try her best to clean them up. The family teased her for the rest of her life about her "duck charming" abilities any time Bakewell or ducks were mentioned...🤣
@@MrHws5mp that is the best story ever!!! We loved the town and wished we'd have got a clip of the fish challenging the ducks for the bread! They were vicious!! Cheers for watching 🍻
Good to see you're branching out into land lubber videos. There is a real need for videos about what to see and do in Great Britain. Have you thought of doing something in Wales perhaps? North Wales looks nice. So a fanny pitt is like an arm pit for the... Yes. Funnily enough Bakewell tarts are something I am familiar with. Our local supermarket carries Mrs Kipling's Bakewell Tarts and they are delish. I so want to try one of those Bakewell puddings but. When I saw this video come up I thought it was Bakelite puddings and that didn't really sound appealing. It's a bit like eating an old phone I suspect.
I know! There's a real shortage of U.K. vlogs, especially North Wales, it doesn't look a bad place at all! Fanny in the U.K. is not the same as USA - god knows what it is in Oz, but made us laugh! Bakewell puddings are definitely where it's at. Forget Mr Kipling, Mrs Wilson is where it's at. Hope you're well and lay off those Bakelite tarts, they sounds disgusting 🤣. Cheers 🍻
Oo thanks for the heads up, the Joiners Arms is on the list next time we're that way! Yep I agree, I said to Wills it tasted Marzipan ish! Cheers for watching 🍻
unbelievable , buxton has a pud try it another better town too ,nothing really special about my town its a town, nice video though its bottled all the time from easter due to visitors all the time being pushed to come here , it used to be quieter years ago , and prices of food and drink keeps rising due to tourists
We love Buxton too! We went there a few years back. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ySnryYUzeAI.htmlsi=ay3Qu1tCGkUy7GZB - didn't know they had a pudding though! We were blown away by the free mineral water. Bakewell is lovely, there are a lot of towns that have so many empty units and no facilities these days. It is a shame about the traffic and the influx of tourists must be annoying, but then they spend money. Cheers so much for watching 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint yes Buxton has a pudding with jam in it another traveller put it out there on his visiting video ,it's quite tasty I believe I shall have to try and find video to share it again I love Buxton more as more choice of shops and not too over crowded as my town of Bakewell , it's now too much tourists that locals are pushed out , my hubby wanted to pass some at crossing a week ago to go to manners and got told to walk past in the road off pavement he's 78 ,some people have no manners but feel entitled to treat locals without respect he just managed to push through in end from another kind person , this is what we are up against now it's getting worse with tourists , but as you say it keeps shops open
