Lovely. Some people make fun of establishing shots, but I often find them the most beautiful scenes. If you make another compilation, consider the opening shot of Hugo (2011).

If this was done today, the shot in arrival where they arrive (heh) at the ships (?) location should have been in it, amazing scene.

What equipment is used to make Establishing Shots? People have told me it is 'Drones' and Helicopters, but I'm not too sure. If it is a 'Drone', what drone would be used... Please send a link if you are 100% sure. Thanks

+Kamal Farrah Today you can even use a gopro 4 with a small drone for some good shots but shots like in this video were made with helicopters with special fly cases for the cameras. U can rent this but its very expensive.

An establishing shot does not necessarily have to be shot up in the air like in these examples, it´s often shot on the ground as well. An establishing shot is just a long-shot (or extreme-long shot) that indicates where the scene is taking place :)

yeah i think its cause the films are in 24 fps and i´ve used it in a 30 fps sequence in premiere. srry.

It's a shot in which you set the stage for your upcoming scene. The idea is that you can use an establishing shot to get a sense of location and mood, when a scene would otherwise be confusing to the audience. You can also use it to indicate a change of location or time.
