I've watched many of these videos many people have posted on old abandoned homes, and Kappy's channel is the only one I go to now since finding him for a couple reasons. One, he is a true lover of historic buildings and it shows in every single video he posts. Second, he is extremely respectful, and sadly many other people are not. The enthusiasm you show Kappy is geniune, and it peaks the interest of viewers like me who also loves these majestic old homes. Thanks for a great channel!

So sad that the generation that did not want this house, why? I loved the furniture, glass ware, so much history and so much beauty. The architecture of this farm house was amazing, so sad to think nobody wanted to preserve it. Another piece of history gone.

I really love the furniture and crockery. The glimpses of the ceiling seem to indicate not much water damage so the house has that in its favor. If we were in a position to afford the refurbishment cost I would jump at the opportunity. Think of that as a Bed and Breakfast!

Maybe the surviving relatives couldn’t get off work long enough to deal with the house and all it’s contents? .. much like it’ll probably be for me, it isn’t that I wouldn’t want to deal with each of my parents houses, and preserve memories , it’s that idk how I could afford take the time off and risk losing my job; the United States really needs to embrace the “family leave” thing…

I get the sense that an elderly lady lived out her remaining years in that farm house built for her when she was young by her husband after her husband died and her family was grown up and moved away. She probably died around June 1993 which was the date on the kitchen calendar and also judging by the old 50s-60s style TV's in the house. I also get the sense that a lot of happy family memories happened in that house from around 1940-1970s or so and then the woman became a widow for the remainder of years. This life often becomes more lonely and sad the older one becomes.

Sometimes these houses get hung up in probate or the family started fighting over it and then multiple lawyers get involved. When that happens everyone involved is prohibited by law to get anywhere near the property or remove anything. Resolution takes years, sometimes decades and by that time the house is in such decay and won't be worth much anyway

This house, so gorgeous. She was grand in her day, and now in her old age. I love that porch. OMG. the old coffee can and the enamel stuff. Too bad you couldn't make an offer on some of that stuff in there. That room with the wood fireplace, and the other pieces so beautifully ornate, I hope they rescued those before tearing down the house. That staircase is just sublime. I want that old rocker that was hiding in the first floor room. I want that "pretty chair"! Sigh. The amount of antiques in that house alone are probably worth thousands, maybe double digits. I'm not an expert tho. This house was just the thing I needed today. The owners were clearly wealthy, esp with seeing the huge pictures of the babies. Photography was expensive back then.

What a shame to see...A home trying to keep it's head up as you drive in, only to find the sadness within each room, memories of once happier times faded and gone. A home crying out to the world "Save me and I will protect you, keep you warm during the Winter and cool as the Summer heat shines upon me." This home once filled with laughter, love and celebrations which emanated throughout every room now dusty and forgotten left to slowly collapse upon itself one day. How I would love the opportunity to give such a once Stately home back it's glory. Thanks Kappy this is one house that really speaks to the heart.💖

The odd layout - a large, formal house often had a section, including everything, that was for entertaing. Entertaing was very important. Then there was the "real life" part - all attached, just segmented. But over the years, it was probably made into a family style "two family." Children left home to start there own families - sometimes far off, sometimes a new house was built on the same land. Or like this house. A practical, less expensive way of creating 2 homes. Then as parents & grand parents aged, everyone still had their own home with loved one right there to help as time went on. Generational home. Really very practical. See that kind of thing up here in NE sometime. At least the few that have survived. Just a thought. Again, thank you so much. I truly enjoy your video's. They take a lot of work can often be dangerous. Take care ! 😊

All the farms in the area my grandparents lived had the green black out pull down shades. Back in the day families would live together. A son or daughter married and their family lived with the older parents. Usually to run the family farm business. The family homes were added a new wing onto the home for the new family. They shared the kitchen and usually cooked one meal for all. This family must have been wealthy to have built in closets at that time. Stunning home!

13:12 ….Reminds me of my grandparents home, we would push the beds right up to the chimney to keep warm in the winter. They had no electricity or running water, that generation had it rough.

Amazing old home, can't believe they tore it down, it was in good shame for it's age. The furniture was beautiful, as well as the fireplaces, hope they saved some of those things, or at least sold it, to pretty to destroy. I am surprised to see it wasn't vandalized, and graffiti all over, I hate it when they destroy property. Thanks Kappy.

Kappy- the green shades in the house tells me this home was possibly owned by generations of old order of Mennonites. Since they will have couple of generations living together it makes sense to have a number of additions. That furniture was definitely handed down.

All the farms where I grew up in Indiana and a lot of homes in town had those blinds. None were Mennonites. Grandma said they were to block the sun to keep the house cool. I remember laying in my bed sick with the measles staring at the light coming through a pin hole in the blind. Funny the things we remember.

That was indeed a great house loved the kitchen was really surprised it being a farm house that I didn't see any canning jars anywhere. Whoever lived there though was neat and tidy all the beds were made even the one with the extra mattress on top of a mattress. I hope it can be restored too. Anna In Ohio

it must have been a sad day when this old beauty left her perch. they leave houses up that have the roof caving in and where vandalism is rife...yet a house that still stood firm on its foundation had to come down. this would have been worth breathing new life into. in one of the upstairs rooms, there was an old hospital bed. it hand handles at the end to crank it up or down, an amazing find. maybe someone had been ill. a funny layout maybe because of all the additions ?? everything about it from the fireplaces to the antiques left behind yelled out "save me" !! I guess no one was listening...

Wow Kappy, that was quite the perfect 👌 find 😍 for stepping back in time!!!! It definitely has a lot of history in it! There's so many many antiques in that place. When I saw in your description that it had been demolished my heart sank. There's so many ppl that have some of those antiques & would probably would have liked to get their hands on them. So much of the cabinets and even the wood itself is Valuable for ppl too. I just wonder if ppl would allow 2nd hand stores or bidders to buy the contents and wood doors. Mantles etc for a nice price and they would be so much better off with the extra money in their pocket!!!! I really liked this one so Thank you 😊 ❤ for sharing this place with us!!

Thanks for the explore. Glad to see you documented this home before it was torn down. I don't get why people furnish their homes with cheap IKEA & Big Lots furniture. If you go to secondhand shops, consignment stores, auctions & estate sales, beautiful furniture can be bought inexpensively. We bought a few pieces at a time whenever we could afford it. Our home is mostly furnished with well-made cherry, maple & oak pieces all dating to the 1930s & earlier.

Kappa loves old houses and has such a genuine respect for everything he films. He makes me feel like I’m exploring with him. If he did a lot of research before hand it would change the feeling of adventure and aura of mystery surrounding the walk through. It’s like stumbling across something that is so interesting you just have to stop to examine it. These videos are delightful, tinged with sadness but very satisfying to watch.

This place would have been grand back in the day!! Love the porches!! Thank you for always giving us the outside, all around view too!! So sad that these old homes don't get restored at the very least! I certainly HOPE some one got those beautiful pieces of antique furniture out of there before they demolished it!! It looks loaded with it. Such a beautiful place, but I would have thought they would have updated the kitchen, it was huge!! That staircase is incredible!! That place goes on for days!! I just love that furniture that was left in there...... That front door is cool, love the stair cases. Wow, upstairs is the cool too! Loved that wallpaper. Why did they have to tear this place down? It looks like it's pretty sound, no major water damage or holes in the floor! The fireplaces upstairs are beautiful!!! That is definitely added onto... meaning the house sections. I hope they got the furniture out of there! I loved this explore Kappy!! Thanks for sharing!! Peace, Kim ~
