Very pretty. I guess your video popped up because I just posted a new bird bath I made. I started reading the comments curious to see if you get the same sort of comments I get. I watch birds bathe in water filled filthy pot holes in the road and I get comments about how I shouldn't use plastic or certain glues which aren't even in the bath part. I'm giving the birds a fresh water option. I see you get the same crowd. Well, I appreciate you taking the time to film how you made this beautiful bird bath. I don't think people appreciate the time and effort that goes into sharing videos on here. I understand and you did a great job on this video and your garden is beautiful.
I think it’s beautiful. Don’t forget to put rocks in the bottom of the bowl with the water so that small birds can sit on them. I have an antique bird bath that I want to do done repairs on and get it up and running.soon it’s going to be fall pretty soon and I’ve been talking about getting it up for the birds for several summers. I thought when I retired I’d have plenty of time. You inspired me to get off my butt and get it up and running by next weekend for sure. TNRNJANICE
I have made several bird baths. E 6000 and glass plates work much better. I am always checking good will and resale stores for things that will work. I like to use something for the base that will hold a little water. Turtles and bunnies appreciate that.
That looks pretty, I hope the water is safe for the birds to drink though. When you can, please do a follow-up and would love to see activity at the birdbath.
I never thought of using plastic plates. And I really like the idea of placing something into the ground to hold the bird bath from falling over! Very pretty!
Great idea with the light, I'm definitely going to do that. Plates upside down for me since I live in mosquitoville but I like the birdseed tray option. Easy fix for a perch, just add a pretty rock, figurine, small candle holder or bud vase. Your color choices are lovely, thank you for sharing your ideas 😊
I’ve got a pile of dishes and glassware from my mom and two grandmothers. Selling some of it but I thought maybe if I re-purposed a few they might make for heirloom gifts that other people will enjoy much longer than someone’s used stuff. Thanks so much for your video.
🏡...Hello, You are such a " wonderfully personable and inspiring lady of the garden " * I was strolling by looking for someone Exactly like YOU . By God's hand or Serendipity I'm here learning something brand new ❤ BEAUTIFUL YOU !
I noticed you have a dog in your video and you should be aware that Loctite is extremely dangerous to dogs. It's not poisonous but if your dog eats it, it can cause problems. Also the top bowl is too deep for birds and doesn't offer a way for them to escape if they fell inside, like a rock or perch. While it's very pretty, it can be fatal to the lovely birds you're trying to care for.
Lady I'm sorry to inform you... Having that big old punch bowl on the top can cause a bird to fall in and not be able to get out and drown.... Birds fall into bird baths quite often.... You need to have Rocks so they can stand on to get back out.... You would have been better off filling the top up with colored stones..... But overall it's a lot of hard work to keep clean and not contaminate the water..... Your birdseed at the bottom could get contaminated with the moisture of having to change the water.... You would have been better off with three-tier bird feeder..,.. even putting bird seed at the top they can also fallen headfirst and not be able to get out.... Plus putting it on the ground will entice cats....
For future reference, maybe you'd want to build the pedestal part individually and then glue it onto the ground mount after the ground mount is hammered in. That way you could make sure that you get it lined up well and straight. Also maybe make the top basin wider and shallower so they have something to actually bath in. It's a little bit narrow seeming. Rocks could also be put in the bottom for perching Is the adhesive you are using nontoxic?
Unfortunately, you now have a lovely stand with stagnit water. Not easy to clean, and attracts mosquitoes. A solar pump would have been a better option.
omg our squirrels and chipmunks will have that knocked over in a flash - they would be fighting over the seeds LOL - it's lovely though. thanks for sharing
Thank you for doing this video. What an elegant bird bath and your garden is lovely! I had to subscribe to your channel. Thank you again. Have a beautiful day. 🌺
Is the glue non toxic to birds/wildlife? Is it waterproof? Very pretty though. I bet it made your garden look gorgeous. I tried a bird bath without running water, but I found out the birds actually prefer running water on a shallow dish. That’s when I started using a pump and they use my baths all the time.
Oh wow...how cute! As somebody who has done something similar; please take this advice with a grain of salt LOL. Just trying to save you some trouble! If the weight of the bowl on top is already heavy, perhaps you shouldn't have glued it to the candlestick base. This way if the water gets yucky or you want to wash out the bowl, you can. As you have it, it is all glued together even to the base, so you can't tip it to clean. Something else I noticed, you should have been able to remove that silver pipe from the solar light. it wouldn't have mattered how far it sunk down into the vase because the top of the light sits on the lip of the vase. No need for using tape. And if it didn't twist off, I've used a small hand saw and cut them off using hardly any effort. There it is...my two cents! And you have a majestic garden. Something tells me you don't live in the south. My garden would never be that green and beautiful with this hot, Texas sun!
Great advice to not glue down the bowl to allow for cleaning/ emptying and changing the water! I think l would have just set it on top of the plate and took out that top candle base that it’s on.. l think l would like it a little lower. Great tip!
You have a beautiful garden. Unfortunately my cats are serial killers, so the birds know better than to hang out in my yard. This is a lovely project, though. Thank you for sharing.
Does the glue dry clear? Is it harmful to animals? I read that birds prefer a shallow birdbath, and that's what I see being sold. Like your idea, so that would be the only thing I would change.
This looks so cute!! I can't and don't put bird seed out. Here in Ventura birdseed lures rats. And also I have a cat that loves to bring me birds. (and lizards and mice) and that would be cheating for my cat to put seed out.
I think you went just a little too high. Also if you're placing the silicone on the base that sits on top of the bowl where you're placing the water. Did you research the silicones is it bad for the birds
Look like the birds will drown in the big bowl. Birds like a nice shallow bowl or something, like a rock, to perch on to drink or bath. This would be more appropriate as a fish bowl.
how do you clean the bowl when it gets dirty? Also, why pound the post in the ground when you could just put it on a brick? You spent about $75 on this and a regular birdbath would be cheaper and easier to maintain. The other thing, why glue the solar light in the vase when the batteries don't last very long?
Looks like pretty garden art but not very functional for birds... they need shallow water and something to land on, also moving water... watch some of Robbie and Gary's birdbath videos, she does some very inexpensive diy how to videos on birdbaths and feeders.
It's pretty but that is not a bird bath. They need a large shallow bath to bathe and drink. A bird could drown in that bowl. Also plastic plates will not hold up. They will fade and crack.
this is a very cute idea but you didn't let any of the glue dry and some people may not know or understand you need to let the glue dry before you put seeds or water on it because that glue is very toxic to birds
Let's hope a vomit or a bird will don't get stuck in that cell phone overnight.I think I would have taken the silicone to put it on my back porch.Or in my garage and let it dry overnight before I continue the object just to be safe
Excellent idea, I doubt the functionality, birds are not to picky about a bird bath, this one is created to be cute, not really for the birds to enjoy, all they need is shallow and fresh water. Keep it simple
It's a great idea but for 1 the bowl is way to deep. Birds are afraid of deep water. 2- the adhesive maybe toxic to the birds even after it dries. You added seed to the plates also again might be toxic to the birds. You mentioned alot how it will look cute but my question always is, will it be safe. Lovely idea great work but I would go about it cheaper & safer.
I really liked the idea. I clean my birdbaths all the time. That will be hard to clean. Also, I liked up to the egg dish with a plant in the center with your arbor. Thanks
The bowl is too deep... Birds slip and fall into water bowls and die from drowning.... They cannot swim Lyft themselves up by their wings on the edge of a bowl and get out.... Same way keeping an open bucket of water can cause a bird to drown and die.... That bird bath needs to be very shallow and even then put some Stones inside....
