I have a tungsten wood and opal inlay, how do you polish and buff these rings to bring them back to shine? I was told it can not be by a jeweler because it has resin on top?
@DreamwoodRings
@DreamwoodRings 4 месяца назад
Hey, you can definitely do it with some Zam and a cotton wheel with a Dremel or other rotary device. Do you have a Dremel? You can send us a few images to info@dreamwoodshop.com and we may possibly be able to give you a quote on fixing it up as well.

Thanks for the fast response! But one more question: What kind of circular saw you use? Seems so tinny but powerfull. 😀

@@lino668 haha that does make more sense! I have an older version of this one. I do wish it had a little more power. ameritoolonline.com/products/4-lapidary-trim-saw

I'm about to do a wood inlay in a tungsten ring core and I'm a little nervous about when I go to turn the wood down flush with the tungsten edges. I use carbide tools for turning. Will it scratch the ring core? And if so how to I get the scratches out? I also plan on doing the same thing using a black ceramic core. It's not plated so the seller says theres no need to worry about scratching it when turning or sanding. Thanks in advance for any help or info.
@DreamwoodRings
@DreamwoodRings 4 года назад
Hey there, you won't scratch the tungsten or the ceramic with your tool, obviously you don't want to be rough with it, but you will be just fine with both! Take a look at all the cores we carry as well. shopdreamwood.com/collections/ring-blanks-and-adhesives

@@DreamwoodRings Wow! I had no idea you sold those. I like your prices too. I will be buying some of those for sure. I just bought two today on Amazon and there really isn't much of a selection. There was a hammered one though that I really liked but decided against it. One last question please. How would I go about doing a wood inlay on that hammered ring blank? That seems like it would be impossible to turn the wood flush with that?
@DreamwoodRings
@DreamwoodRings 4 года назад
@@imagineengine I look forward to it! The hammered one you kind of just go one side at a time very carefully. The hard part is getting the glue out of the facets. But they are very fun!

Hi, great video! I tried using UV resin like you did here but found it peeled away from the inlay when I tried to clean up the edges with a craft knife. Have you experienced this? Thanks for the tips - subscribed.
@DreamwoodRings
@DreamwoodRings 5 лет назад
I have never had it peel away on the lathe. When I do it slowly like you have mentioned I have had issues. I would suggest not peeling it away slowly with a knife like that, I would take it down on the lathe quickly with your lathe tool and then 400 grit sand paper. Also make sure that you have depth for the resin. Bring the inlay material about .5mm below the edge. Good luck!

I think this ring is incredible but it's not a super precious stone that's hard to come by. Very expensive for such a small size.
@DreamwoodRings
@DreamwoodRings 3 года назад
I agree with you, the price mostly is from all of the work put in to make a ring rather than cost of materials. Thanks for watching!

Chad, I'm sorry if I sounded disrespectful. I think you make an incredible ring and as a craftsman myself I should not have even typed this. My friend I showed this to was also kind enough to purchase one in 8mm 9.5 larimar jewelry isn't very fashionable from what I've seen for men. If you create anything else I look forward to sharing that video for you also.
