Brother I've seen worse trust me as a carpenter I have seen worse.. it would take some money and some jacks and a lot of framing but you could fix it if the foundation is good

I believe this table opened, there is probably a leaf (I think they call it) somewhere in that house to accommodate more seating. One awesome table.

I've never seen anything like that. At least 100 grand maybe 250 grand! Someone needs to take charge of these antiques before it's too late they are worth a fortune.

@@beverlybarnes3122 It’s amazing the treasure I’ve seen on these videos, Steinway piano, Rolex watch, high end rare stereo gear. Nothing like seeing a $40k Steinway with some sort of white mold or mildew all over it.

I noticed that too. I just bought a 1910 hoosier cabinet and would love a pie safe. Besides these, beautiful houses themselves, the contents of these places make me sad for the neglect and loss they represent. I would love to have that gorgeous table in the last upstairs room.

I agree. Would be nice to know these quality items were salvaged/saved. Not the place of the Urbex to do so as that goes against the code. Shame to think of it all just rotting away tho.

The question is: how'd they get that big ole piano upstairs?? That had to have been a project! Lovely old bones to this house -- and a couple nice old pieces. Such a crying shame to see it all in this state. 😞 Can't help but feel, whenever I see these beautifully crafted homes, that we've missed a better time in more ways than maybe we realize.

Yes!!! Then it will continue to be enjoyed! Some of those older pieces of furniture just need a little love! The architectural pieces could be saved as well. Sad.

I have a friend from back when I was in Highschool who started a side business doing just that. Some of it he restores and some of it he sells as is. For him its a labor of love. An old house was being torn down across the street from his and he said he could see those old door knobs going to a landfill.

Virtually all joints in any piece of furniture above IKEA quality are dovetails. The uniformity and close spacing of that joinery suggests a factory piece from the early- to mid-20th century. It's a nice enough piece, but not really very valuable.

Me too!! I couldn't watch anymore after a certain point, it was too painful. Such beauty, artistry, imagination and skill went into buildings back then. It is such a shame that it is truly nonexistent today except in our most expensive of buildings, totally out of reach to the average person. Whenever I hear "open floor plan" I just about gag. Today's designs are terrible.

@@Rdwrer I would say it’s more of a survivorship bias where all the regular cheap construction is long gone and only the exceptional stuff remains.

If anyone is interested I will be restoring the furniture in this video. This home is in my town and I've been working on making sure I can legally obtain it, otherwise it would be stealing. Thanks kappy for highlighting my town and area. Along with rose mansion. Great stuff however u forgot to go into the basement at the rose mansion. There is and actually vault down there as just as a bank has.

some of the furniture would have been worth some money if there wasn't moisture damage throughout the house. Everything that I saw was a total loss.

I know right however if u take a good look at it. Once it was edit one minute you see the newspaper then he showed looking up the wall and came back across the piano the newspaper was taken off the piano. Believe me they are getting some good things out these house's. Take a look another look at the video and see.

I’ve always been interested in architecture, when I was just a wee lad I wanted to be an architect and build houses and I’ve always loved history, especially us history! I read this book called ghosts along the Mississippi ( highly recommend) and it got me interested in documenting old derelict houses

I read another comment that suggested the original house was raised & another level/floor built under it, then added onto over the years. Back in that era, these kind of houses were built in sections, added on as the family's need, over the years as they became more prosperous plantation owners..... I've never heard of this before (raising a house to add another under it), but it makes sense. Points were made about the different roofs & add ons like the porch. Also explains the beautiful piano being "upstairs", it was already in the original house when it was lifted.... Thinking on it now, I can't see the piano making it up the beautiful (perfectly built) spiral staircase. With a hoist, maybe thru the upper porch doors but they didn't seem large enough. I also noticed differences of fireplaces, the upper fireplaces are all the same smaller size & all plainer, less ornate. Lower fireplaces are all the same size, larger & all are fancier, beautifully ornate. The front entry tho....to me seems out of place. Even tho it's double door, it still seems small & plain for a house this size with such unique beauty. Was there a smaller house right off the back? I wonder what it was for & how the floor plan is inside.

Hitch up the horses to a cable and thread it thru a reel. Then walk the horses out from the house and bring it thru the balcony doors. Once it's on balcony a couple guys can roll it into place where they want it..( IV moved panio before and the hard part is steering it)

@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 actually looks to have been built as a single-family home, four rooms, two up two down. You can see the vertical seam on the end of the house where the first edition was made.
