I suggest placing a bunch of trees or flowers! It add some clutter and makes it feel really cozy like your in a cottage! That’s my image of cottage core.

Not sure if you’re still having a hard time, but when I first started designed (I’m still VERY new. I’m a Christmas player so literally only a month in) but I kept getting discouraged because I would terraform and then not understand why it looked awful. But when I started placing trees flowers and other things like bugs / whatever your aesthetic is, it really pulls it together! Just start placing stuff and it’ll come together!

I’m sure you have the talent! I suggest placing a bunch of trees and flowers and cliffs it makes a really cluttered effect like your in a tiny cottage a bunch of furniture also helps!

What a lovely island. I particularly appreciated that in a very few locations there were splashes of color among the flowers. The all-white aesthetic is very appealing, but I also really like some of the more brightly-colored pink, blue, and purple flowers. This island nicely displayed a few here and there, which I really enjoyed.

I like your description there. I totally agree as well. I feel like adding a bunch of color makes it have more life in it. While the neutral affect is very lovely I feel like it adds more depth to the island in general,

You will get there one day. Keep practicing and searching up guides or models to replicate to start off. Then you find your flow to create on animal crossing. I suggest using the app Pinterest.
