I just found your page Mar 13, 2023. I love horses. I'm very envious ;). I've enjoyed your watching your family, stories, and adventures and excited to see your rescue horse have a beautiful life.
I've never rode a Foxtrotter, so it's great to learn a little about them. She seems good natured besides having nice movement. I had an American Saddlebred and love their way of moving. Nice ride I enjoyed going along. Only get to do virtual riding now do to many circumstances I won't bore you with.
I’ve been trying to figure out your location, so thanks. I have family in Koshkonong, Thayer and West Plains and Mountain Home, Ark. I spent many summers there in my childhood and I love seeing the Ozark scenery. I love your channel, And I love horses❤️.
How beautiful, countryside and horses. I,m late Seeing this but really appreciate the Commentary along the way. You and your daughters know how to enjoy life. Be blessed.
@@homesteadhorsemanship I just came across your channel and subscribed, I appreciate that you explain in an articulate manner on what your doing and why you do it. Btw I enjoyed the ride, it’s been awhile since I’ve owned any horses, sure do miss them.
That has got to be very satisfying, as a dad, to be out riding with your daughters, in such a beautiful area, with good horses. Right around 8:20, there is a picture worth framing. Mary was astride April, on top of the gravel ridge, silhouetted by the setting sun. That would look good hanging on the wall. Thanks for posting.
Very nice area to ride. I only just started following you a few weeks ago when you first saw Oliver. I must say your trotter is an exceptionally smooth ride. I would have thought your camera was on a steady cam holder and not on your head it was so smooth. I have four horses. Two are rescues that are living out their old age quietly doing whatever they want. They are a Clydesdale and a Suffolk Punch, both large but sweet and gentle old boys in their twenties. The other two I ride regularly. One is a Friesian who I trail ride with (I live in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies on the Alberta side) and the other is a Holsteiner that I do a lot of eventing with. They’re both lovely horses as well but not nearly as smooth as your trotters. We’ve had two large snow storms in the last week so I haven’t been out riding at all. Most unusual for this time of year. I won’t be unhappy to see it all melt away let me tell you.
Familiarity also breeds confidence, perhaps. I was wondering if the dogs ever scrounge up a fox, rabbit or any other creatures in the "neigh"-berhood, sometimes? Guess I got my answer when that rabbit took off. ;)
I loved it! I wish I could have gone a long!! Did you ever watch some of the old western movies? The things they got the horses to do always amazes me.
They are. I own both Peruvian and foxtrotter. Foxtrotters can be smooth but it’s typically a little bumpier than a paso or a twh. Still smooth, just not as smooth as the others.
Puppies are doing pretty good. We have had quite a few issues along the way but I think everything is looking on the brighter side now. I’ll have to do another update video soon😊
@@homesteadhorsemanship So good to hear that things are doing well. Little Minnie is such a fighter even though she is a fighter. Even though she is not my puppy I have named her Minnie Pearl, because she is a Minnie Pearl to me.
I’ve learned a lot from you guys. I wish you had a TikTok or instagram. I knew very little about foxtrotters before finding your page. I’ve watched ivys glide gate talk about them but seeing them in action, in shows, it’s a whole different ball game. I didn’t realize how much my crossbreed fits the foxtrotter standard. It’s crazy to me because she’s not a foxtrotter but foxtrots exactly like your horses. She’s a cross between a Paso and an appendix(I did not do this, the previous owner bred for her). Idk why she thought that was a good idea but somehow she created a foxtrotter. Most gaited crosses I’ve met either trot, rack, or pace.. never foxtrot. That’s why I find her very unique. I’ve never met a horse like her and I’ve also never met another foxtrotter. We’re in Cincinnati, Ohio!
@@homesteadhorsemanship I’ll try to get a good video tomorrow. Most people here don’t know much about gaited horses in general so when they see her foxtrot they think she’s trotting but then I tell them to look at my seat. I’d love to come ride with y’all! I really want to know more about how I can help her gait get better and just foxtrotters in general.
Hey I love the videos and this might be a little weird to ask but are they anyway I could ask how old are your daughters if you don’t mind and you don’t have to answer that if you don’t want to I understand
Fun to see the different parts of the country and where people ride. I also raise and ride MFT horses. I ride mostly in Utah, but travel up to the Yellowstone area in the summer and south to St George Utah or Valley of Fire Nevada in the Winter months. For a lot of years my daughters rode with me, But they have all grown up and have families of their own and I'm lucky to get them out a couple times each summer. You can see some of my rides here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--GY5Vyq95mM.html
@@homesteadhorsemanship that’s a long haul for me. I bought some of my early Foxtrotters in MO 25 years ago I remember it taking several days to drive home
One of the hardest thing for a human being is to lose the updates, whether they are parakeet all the way to the stallions or mayors are dogs a cat. I thank you for the closure with the prayer. I know a lot of people in the Bible said that they don’t go to heaven, but I believe if we get to go to heaven, God will grant us the desires of our hearts by letting these babies back into our lives. Thank you so much I love your heart your wife, your children and your beautiful animals. May the Lord richly, bless you, and keep on bringing us babies so we can look at them, and nothing is more important to me than to see a mares and her foals.
@@homesteadhorsemanship no, just joshin'. Real good video of him being trailed by the girls and then camera view changes to a forward view. I never heard or saw him change his cap, and in a roundabout way was trying to compliment his training ability since his methods and results are phenomenal! With him and animals..who could be sure?(lol)
