Beauty and the Beast is one of the greatest love stories ever told in disney history. Not only does love change you mentally, it transforms you physically. That's the reason why it will always be my favorite! :)
+Dash Porter the golden dress that belle wears is very heavy but if the costume designer of the next year's new beauty and the beast designs it it won't be that heavy.
The acting during the song, "Beauty and the Beast" was incredible!! Their emotion was so authentic. Definitely one of my favorites... can't stop re-watching. Thanks for posting!!
I had the greatest privilege of being in this show as Chip the cup at 6 years old along all these amazing actors and actresses. Probably one of my fondest memories of my life and I can happily say that at 25 years old. This video is excellent!
@@MarcusMartn according to one of the videos i found, they did not. i don't know if they decided to add the lift when the production moved theaters though
This brings back so many memories......my son played chip for about 3 months. It was his first theatre role and he loved it. So did all the family....happy times. They should bring it back... great show😀😀
When the show transferred to the Lunt Fontanne Theatre on Broadway in 1999, the Fireworks in Be Our Guest were replaced with just smoke blowing. Then, on the final pose confetti streamers fire from the audience. Also when Toni Braxton took on the role of Belle on Broadway, a new song was added into the show for her called A CHANGE IN ME and then was used for the rest of the Broadway run.
Thank you so much for uploading this - I was nine when my parents took me to see this show and it starred this same original cast. Loved every moment of it but was so sad when I couldn't find much of the london production on youtube. Derek Griffiths will always be my favorite Lumiere and Burke Moses will always be the best Gaston. :)
I'd have loved to have seen this as a kid! Actually, I still would, looks like such a great show! I was looking at Mrs Potts (Mary Millar) thinking "I know her. I know her. How do I know her?" And I suddenly sat bolt upright and exclaimed "Keeping Up Appearances!" Then I started to doubt myself, but she really is Rose...
Thank you so much, where were you when I needed you. I made Belle's Broadway skirt in 2012 and was having trouble trying to find any good images or videos. I went to see this in London, such a shame it is not there now. The touring show is not half as good. Just wish though they would show more info on the bottom of her dress as this is what I had an issue with the most when making. apart from that this is brill. Don't ever take this video down.
Five times I saw this, the best being at the Dominion on it’s last night.. most spectacular, fantastic, amazing show ever... please someone bring it back on tour, I promise I’ll go five times more ❤️
After recently seeing the new version of beauty and the beast musical at London Palladium 2022, it definitely has been updated and renovated so much since this classic production which I vaguely remember seeing when it was on back in the 1990’s

26:09 and 26:15. Those wooden stairs… I have a feeling those stairs are used for going to the top of the plate stairs during Be Our Guest, and for the back of the castle.
I honestly think Alasdair got the Beast a little better than Terrence Mann. Terry played it more like it was meant to be a singing role, whereas Alasdair has more inflection in his voice, he's more of an actor-singer than a singer-actor like Terry--it gives so much depth to the Beast, and his rendition of "If I Can't Love Her" genuinely made me cry the first time I heard it, and I actually cared about the Beast in that version. (But you can never beat Susan Egan!!)
Awesome Behind The Scenes Documentary About Disney's Beauty And The Beast The West End Hit Musical At London's Wonderful Dominion Theatre Before Disney's The Lion King At London's Lyceum Theatre. Thanks Mate. X
Does anyone know if there was any footage of Michelle Gayle as Belle? It really annoys me how people are acting like it never happened! She was our first black Belle, how did that not get any attention?
Right I know this was from 9 years again but I’m trying to work out how the transformations are done at the end from Beast to Prince how dare they not show that
This is from 1997 at the dominion theatre in londons west end. The beasts transformation was using two costumes and a revolving dummy! The technology of the 1990s
Ah the wonderful Mary Millar. In the UK we know her as the incredible actress who played Rose in the BBC comedy Keeping up appearances. Unfortunately she passed away in 1998. Just a few years later. ❤
I don't think that is completely true, yes for seeing the musical in English I would go to London or new York. But don't underestimate the dutch and german productions they are world class but just understandable for non speakers. Also the major producer of musicals in the world is stage entertainment, which is actually a dutch company
How can having Stockholm syndrome for anyone be love. Unless you are the kind that's a massacist. In the other hand a man courting you and planning his life with you that's love. Not keeping someone against their well. I only would have agreed it would be truly a love story if Belle wasn't so unconventional and married Gaston.
