Another Beauty & The Beast Scene/Dialogue comparison between the 1991 animated version & the 2017 live action remake! Enjoy! Like, comment, subscribe & click on the bell for more content!
Beast was a fucking savage in the animated film, it's like he's been cursed for so long that he forgot his own humanity which is something incredibly sad and at the same time terrifying. Now in the live action you simply have a guy who was cursed to become a beast but he just looks like one, he doesn't act like it.
The Beast goes on all fours in the original to indicate his beastly nature, but he is fully bipedal in the remake to take away the point of his character as a beast.
Both versions are good. Beast’s aggressive behavior was so funny in the animated film, but the 2017 version was interesting to note that it was going to be a tougher process of falling in love due to Belle wanting to escape and Beast handling the situation immaturely.
1991: Belle is patient and polite even after he starts shouting at her. All she ever says is “no thank you” and “I’m not hungry” which makes you feel bad for her when he starts pounding on the door. 2017: She’s practically bating him by asking if he’s insane when he asks politely. It would’ve been just as easy for her to say no thank you and not get all argumentative. If that’s not bad enough, after he’s clearly upset and pounding on the door, she says “I’d starve before I ever ate with you” Is she trying to upset him or is she just that stupid? Either way 1991 will always be the one and only true movie. 2017 sucked
In the animated version she was short with him she didn’t explain why she wasn’t going to eat with him like Emma did reminding him what he did she knew that she gave up her freedom but that doesn’t mean she has to do what he says. And his servants were trying to help him ask her properly and even though it didn’t work they weren’t going to talk bad about him when he leaves or ‘tell him off’
Actually, she did explain in the animated version why she wasn't going to eat with him. She said that it was because she wasn't hungry. Yes, I agree that her answer in the animated film was simpler, but she still explained why she wasn't going to eat with him.
I like the animated version better. Of course, the premise is pretty much the same. The Beast was wasting his time asking Belle to join him for dinner. I mean, did he honestly think she would want to so much as breathe the same air as him after what he did to her and Maurice?
Both versions are great. I also love the scene in the Broadway show version. For those who never saw the stage musical production version, Belle and the Beast have their dinner request shouting match face to face inside Belle's room and the scene is extended and done a little comical. Beast: I thought I told you to come down to dinner! Belle: I'm not hungry! Beast: I am the master of this castle and I'm telling you to come to dinner! Belle: And I'm telling you I'm not hungry! Beast: You're hungry if I say you're hungry! Belle: Don't be ridiculous. Beast: What did you just say? Belle: You can't go ordering people to be hungry. It doesn't work like that..... Beast: (Interupts) I can... Belle: (continuing)..... Besides, it's rude. Beast: (Sarcastically) Oooooooooh, it's rude isn't it?! How about this, if you don't come to dinner, I shall drag you by your hair..... (Beast does a little improv pounding how hard he be on Belle) Lumiere: Master, that not be the best way to win the girl's affection. Cogsworth: Please..... attempt to be a gentleman. Beast: (To Cogsworth) Why is she being so difficult? (To Belle) Why are you being so difficult? Belle: Why are you being such a bully?! Beast (acting very childlike) BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO COME DOWN TO DINNER!!! Belle: So, you admit you're being a bully?! Mrs. Potts: Death breaths master (Beast and the Objects take deep breaths) Beast: I'll give her one last chance. (with gritty teeth) Would you be so kind to join for dinner? Cogsworth (under his breath): Aaaaaaah.... P-P Beast: Please Belle: No thank you Beast: Fine, then starve!!! (ROARS) Cogsworth, Lumiere, and Mrs. Potts (All shouting at Beast)...... Master, no!! Stop!!! Come back here!! Beast: If she doesn't eat with me, then she doesn't eat at all.
Lumiere: Gentleman rule #6: no matter how stubborn the lady is, try again and ask more politely to dinner but in the behavior of a gentleman. Lumiere: (reminding Beast) Hey, hey, hey, remember, gentleman. Cogsworth: And try using a little word called 'please'.
Aftermatch with Belle and Wardrobe (1991 version): Wardrobe: Oh Belle, I know you must still be upset that he took your father and freedom, but-- Belle: It's not just my father and freedom. Wardrobe: Oh, I see. It's his temper that has you upset, isn't it? I know he can be temperamental sometimes, but deep down, he's not at all bad unless you give him a chance. Belle: Give him a chance? Why? I ask you, Wardrobe; did he give my father a chance? Wardrobe: Well, no. But-- Belle: I don't want to see or get to know him for as long as I live in this castle.
Aftermath (1991 version): Cogsworth: Humor me, Lumiere. Why did she refuse dinner? Lumiere: I don't know. Cogsworth: You what? Lumiere: I don't know. Cogsworth: You suggested dinner to charm the two, and you don't even have a motive? Lumiere: That about sums it up. Cogsworth: What in the world do you have? Lumiere: Look, based on what Mrs. Potts said, the girl is probably still upset because she lost her father and freedom. Cogsworth: And she refused dinner because of her loss? That explains her stubbornness. Lumiere: Or maybe it isn't because of the loss of her father and freedom, maybe it's the master's temper. Cogsworth: It's all speculation, Lumiere! You and Mrs. Potts would have taught him the important rule about asking her more politely in a gentleman manner, no matter how stubborn that girl was! Lumiere: Well, I didn't see you in the dining hall giving him better advice! Mrs. Potts: Alright, that's enough, you two. Dinner is cancelled, but what do we do about the poor child? Lumiere: Sooner or later, she'll emerge. And if she comes to the kitchen and gives the word that she's hungry, I'd say let's serve her a dish. Cogsworth: Forget it. (referring to Belle) And if Ms. Stubborn wishes to remain consult in her bedroom forever, I'd say allow her. Mrs. Potts: Cogsworth, how can you be so selfish? You called the poor child stubborn, and you won't even help her feel welcome in this castle! Cogsworth: Mrs. Potts...(brief pause) Serving the girl dinner against the master's orders wouldn't be a good idea. Mrs. Potts: We don't care what he said. Cogsworth: But she's only allowed to meals unless she dines with the master. Lumiere: No one can remain consult in their bedroom condemned to starvation forever. Cogsworth: Fine, see if I care. But for now, Lumiere, I'm placing you on guard duty. Start by standing watch at the door. And you, Mrs. Potts, downstairs at once. We must clean the dining hall. (back to Lumiere) When you see the girl emerge for a slightest change, come talk to me.
Me: (pounding on my mom's door, yelling) I asked you to get me more SpaghettiO's and meatballs! Mom: Not interested. Me: (yelling) You buy more SpaghettiO's and meatballs for me, or Dad will break down the door! Babs: I could be wrong, but that's not the best way to win your mom's affections. Mac: Please, attempt to be a good son. Me: But she is being so difficult. Ginger: Gently, gently. Me: (calmly) Will you get more SpaghettiO's? Mom: No! Me: (points at my mom's door) Hmm? Ginger: Suave, genteel. Me: It would be my awesome pleasure if you buy more SpaghettiO's and meatballs. Bunty: Ask please. Me: Please? Mom: No, thank you! Me: (losing my temper) You can't stay in here forever! Mom: Yes, I can. Me: Forget it! Then go ahead and STAAAAARVE! (To Ginger, Mac, Babs, and Bunty) If she doesn't want to make my life better, I will not be honest at all! (I furiously run to my room and slam my door) Babs: Oh, dear. That didn't go very well at all, did it?
(Twilight Princess version) Link: (Bangs the gate 3 times) GIVE ME BACK MY HORSE! Illia: I said forget it! Link: (Inhales fiercley) YOU GIVE ME BACK MY HORSE, OR I'LL... I'll... I'LL BREAK DOWN THE GATE!!!
Not likely. Even if he had asked nicely, it wouldn’t have made any difference, as Belle was still mad at him for the way he treated her and Maurice. The first thing he needed to do to win her heart was to redeem himself.
Yep. Belle does have the right to refuse to join the Beast for dinner. He was being such a child and needs to control his temper. Who wouldn’t be this upset?
It's maybe the enchantress made him a beast it is olso control his temper it looks like the Rose was offered to him that he made him losing his temper what if he didn't join the beast to have dinner with him
