Beaver Dam was completed in 1966. Its purpose was to provide flood control of the White River. Beaver Lake located behind the dam is the 6th largest lake in the State of Arkansas. With a total surface size of 28,220 acres, Beaver Lakes provides some of the best fishing and water sports in the State let alone the entire country.
Dam Site Campground is one of 9 campgrounds (some websites say 11) along the lake's 487 miles of shoreline. In my opinion, it is one of the finest campgrounds in Northwest Arkansas and therefore one needs to plan in advance if you are going to be able to camp and enjoy the beauty it has to offer due to the popular demand.
