The world would be very different if not for this little eco creator! Some native Americans legends have them as the builds of the world! Lol hard to disagree with that. 😉
I'm so thrilled by this zoo. I grew up in pdx and remember the zoo from when I was a child. It is so amazing now! The video quality is amazing, the habitats and enrichment activities are so much better, the animals are so well cared for. Props and thanks to everyone involved
I seem remember reading a report that said they they respond to the sound of running water, and will put sticks and mud over a loud speaker that's producing the right sound.
Do you provide them with sticks? How often do you have to disassemble their dams? Do they seem sad when they see their dam is gone? Let's get some more dam facts here! Hahaha!
thank you for providing them the space and time to complete their life's work 🙌🏽🙏🏽. Im sure they were getting bored with just bringing sticks back to their little den.
There is nothing funnier than a beaver periodically swimming hundreds of feet from their nest to make the most aggressive territorial displays because they hate your campfire that is 50 ft from the pond, they have so much attitude lol.
Love IT! This is SO Entertaining & Sweet ~ Love these Guys 💝🌞🌲if this doesn't make a person Smile... Thanks SO much for Keeping them Happy & Healthy in captivity ~
Do they get a new location to build a dam or do you disassemble them so they have to rebuild it? Do they have trees to cut down to help with their teeth' growth?
they probably just have this one area with the running water and they just remove the dam the beavers have built there from time to time so they can do it again!
they build dams since in winter they store food in the lakes they build aka logs they hate the sound of water running since that means their habitat will drain and they will die when winter comes around also they are safes in the lakes they build and don't like to go on land therefor will build canals into the forest so incase there is a danger they can quickly get into safety also they do need dams for their shelter as they always have the way in under the water and people say not even beers can break into their shelter i hope this did answer some of your questions but this is 4 am for me and i lost all life to type with commas and shit like that so i hope it aint to confusing :P
At the Oregon Zoo, they try to keep most of the Animals enriched in case some like the beaver here have to go back to the Wild. They do something similar at the Local Safari.
