Working on this stuff right now with Bruce Arnold. Wrote a solo over a blues superimposing major chords, now I’m writing a solo over Invitation and superimposing chords on those long minor sections.
Great stuff Joe - I've used the old paper/pencil routine & transcribed these lines, loads of useful information to extrapolate from them, cheers as always!
@@JoeHubbardBass I've been looking at the transcriptions Joe... The Barry Harris example I wrote in 7/4 so I could see the relative harmony as an exercise. But I played as 4/4. If I wrote it in 4/4 it'd be difficult to play if I didn't already know the pattern. is that correct? The Charlie Banaco example i wrote in the same manner, 3/4 (C-) & 4/4 (G7b9). Again, a simple exercise. I have no bar lines. Different time signatures will be interesting! Were you thinking in 4/4 time as you played? If so then it's a completely different ball game compared to my transcriptions. I think it is & I'm pleased about it! Makes me think.... applying rhytmic interest can make these patterns fly 😊👍
