So pleased more people can now hear this concert originally live streamed on Sunday. If you're new to Becca Stevens, just take a listen to her new song Heather's Letters To Her Mother, including her introduction starting at 35:06. Stunning performance.
I first heard Becca Stevens on a live recording with David Crosby. I loved that and I love this. So beautiful and intelligent and soulful. I could listen to her sing forever. Thank you for posting.
I appreciate this fearless, unselfconscious approach to music, which reminds us that music is a universal, human endeavor and is ours to do with as we wish; we needn't be bound to received forms, and inventive recasting and fresh orchestration and arranging needn't be disrespectful or deconstructionist.

I already clicked "like", but I feel I should click again and again to emphasize that! Beautiful songs (that probably need to be heard several times to really get the essence) and great arrangements, exquisitely performed by Becca and the orchestra! Bravo!
His name is Tomoharu Yoshida, he’s the fabulous principal oboist for the WDR Funkhausorchester. :) This concert was a collaboration between the WDR Big Band and the WDR Funkhausorchester, but the Big Band team was in charge of the producing, live on-screen inserts etc. (that’s also why the logo in the corner says WDR Big Band) - the other soloists you mentioned are all part of the WDR Big Band, so that’s probably why they are named while others aren’t.
You can tell Becca was nervous, but she still performed beautifully, sometimes a little over the top but still good. I missed Jordan Perlson playing the drums, the orchestra drummer was ok but kinda generic. Stumbling over this concert was definitely unexpected.
Just enjoy the music. She always seems nervous when she sings, it's just her way, and it's fantastic. The drummer definetely held down, considering there was a huge orchestra full of instruments to be heard and appreciated.
Paul is sensationally good. But then so is Becca... Becca is linked to Rita Payes via MARO and Paul's solo on Rita's composition "No Home No" was brilliant.
Wonderfull Arrangments and so on, indeed, but Becca seems a littlebit .... not in best condition? Unsure? Problems with monitoring? Dont know, somethings slightly out of range....sorry, but there are really better versions.....second piece little better
