This was played on Japanese public radio, NHK, this morning, and I was lucky enough to catch it. Incredible, rich tapestry of sounds, really glad I found out about these artists.
Becca is a rare jewel. A beautiful shining light of music creativity that soars high above the 'norm'. Thank you Ground Up for supporting such a true talent.
That is partially due to his vibrato, which is not traditionally used on Clarinet. DON’T ASSUME HIS GENDER, WILLY. Anyway, vibrato. And he- err, he, was doing lots of cool pitch-bending maneuvers thru the lines. Yeah, very nice. Also the tone is unusual - very dry.
Beautiful, thought provoking, inspiring, an I'm running out of things to label this with. It stopped me in my tracks - I had to listen to it a number of times. Thanks Becca for your absolute genius, and to the Secret Trio for their stunning performance. Humanity needs more music like this!
Lovely performance. Re the mix, I think Becca's voice needs to sound intense, but nevertheless I found her vocals way too forward, the breath noise way too loud and distracting. Compressor programmed by someone who likes the sound of a compressor - not good - zilch dynamic range when we ALL know there's a beautiful subtlety to her voice. Shame - this and her last video I love online (duet with Maro) her vocals have not sounded tip-top as they are in real life. (esp the Maro duet, really bad room)... Basically I'm yearning to hear some more beautifully recorded Becca-voice.
