I'm so happy that Echoes of the Eye did Outer Wilds justice. It was SO GOOD. In my top 3 DLC's favorite ever. 😭
THE PRISONER WAS SO TRAGIC. The Owlks were good antagonists, I loved that their motivations were more complex. Ugh. ALSO THE CHANGES TO THE ENDING!
Based on the comments from the let's play, I apparently approached this game in an unorthodox way, so it was hard to decide what to keep or cut! So the supercut took me waaaay too much time to edit but I tried out some fun things. I hope you enjoy!

There is no need to be embarrassed about crying. When the emotions get too much you need to let them out! Experiencing strong emotions together is one of the strongest bonds in life you can witness, that's why the Outer Wilds community enjoys sharing these moments so much! It's just a very strong connection

Showing the prisoner our story is the most powerful moment in all of gaming for me. I still cry every time I see it, and the music hits just perfectly. I think the reason it hits so hard is that it perfectly culminates several things into this one moment. - The journey coming to and end and you finally find out why this DLC connects to the base game elevating its story even higher. - Displaying how all of these 3 alien races played their part and influenced eachother. - The act of telling the prisoner that he mattered. - Seeing the story you have uncovered in reprise, in a linear way. You have all these pieces, you know how they fit, but this actually shows it to you. It's so satisfying. The game is brilliant, the DLC is brilliant, Mobius Digital are brilliant.

This. I sobbed when we showed the prisoner. My husband was sitting next to me but not paying attention to the game and he got really concerned until I told him through tears "He knows his actions mattered now. We did it and it was because of him😭!"
@hyperventalated
@hyperventalated 2 дня назад
The scream he lets out when he finally learns his actions were not in vain... That moment is practically tattooed onto my mind haha. Then when he plays his instrument at the campfire it sounds so full of sorrow and loneliness, but he's there with everyone all the same. Quite literally brings a tear to my eye

It's insane that they managed to do that. I was so sceptical when they announced the DLC, because I thought there was no way they could add anything into the existing game, and no way they could create magic twice. But somehow they did!

@@Cernunn0s90 What makes this DLC easily my favorite DLC in any game is how it manages to enhance the story... It answers a question we didn't even realize we had. "Why did the nomai suddenly notice the eye of the universe?" If it was constantly sending out signals, what would make them discover it? Echoes of the Eye provides such a heartfelt and painfully bittersweet answer, while having it make sense IN UNIVERSE why we didn't have access to the location before the DLC was released. God this game is magical, and the DLC is JUST AS MAGICAL... True art.

You should count the planets at 1:41:20 . There's a ice planet where Dark Bramble is supposed to be. That means the prisoner was isolated for a loooooong time.
@azur-jhilio
@azur-jhilio 2 месяца назад
my personal theory says that the seed that corrupted the Dark Bramble came from the owlks home planet, what seems to point in that direction is the fact that if the nomai picked up on the release of the signal during the brief time the prisoner released the signal, and the nomai teleport directly into Dark Bramble with the seed having already taken control of the planet it is unlikely that another event (the arrival of a comet/asteroid) could have brought the seed, in my opinion it is very likely that the origin of dark brambles and therefore the crash of the nomai is also the fault of the owlks
@supercharged5-39
@supercharged5-39 2 месяца назад
@@azur-jhilio i think the nomai crashed in dark bramble because of its signal duplication properties. some of the eye's signal bounced through dark bramble before getting caught by the nomai and it was a freak chance that dark bramble was relatively closer to them than the eye of the universe also there are vines on the ice planet when the strangers arrive implying the bramble had already been growing before it destroyed the planet

@robblake8830 the Sun station says it had been inactive for around 300,000 years, and that's only since the death of the Nomai thanks to the interloper. So the Prisoner has been in isolation for AT LEAST 300,000 years. If the owlks lived 80 year lifespans, that's 3,750 LIFETIMES of isolation. It is unimaginable. In a way, it really shows the Prisoner's strength of character. How many times do you think he was tempted to blow out his lamp? To end it all forever. But he didn't, he hoped against all odds.

24:38 Fun fact: The reason there’s jetpack fuel there is because it’s what they used when they were burning down the monuments to the eye. Also, the developers originally intended to have your jetpack emit a green trail when using their jetpack fuel, but realised it’d just confuse the player as some would try to use it as a puzzle solution which is why it works the same as Hearthian fuel.

You are the only person I’ve seen who actually figured out that the Stranger activates the green sails to push itself away from the supernova and the extra strain is what causes the dam to break. Well reasoned!
@ndupont960
@ndupont960 3 месяца назад
Yeah that was refreshing seeing someone think so fast while playing this game ! Maybe the editing helped but its still impressive. Although i thought the dam had just decayed with time and just did that. I didnt think the sails and the dam were connected because the dam starts losing its integrity before the sails are deployed
@PumatSol
@PumatSol 3 месяца назад
@@ndupont960 I think the timing of everything else in the game is tied to the supernova somehow; there aren’t coincidences like that. But if the dam was already leaking before the sails deployed, maybe the collapse was inevitable and the sudden acceleration of the ship just caused it to fail sooner?
@Welteam
@Welteam 3 месяца назад
@@PumatSolNo he is right, what triggers the break down of the dam is the ship starting to move. You can check that in game with the stability rating of your scout (like it does for the surface of brittle hollow). Shoot your scoot on the dam and it says 100% but when the sails deploy it suddenly drop to something like 83% and then counts down to 0.
@Welteam
@Welteam 3 месяца назад
@@PumatSolYou're also right about other things being tied to the supernova. It's written in the base game that the reason brittle hollow starts to crumble is the increase in solar activity triggering an increase in the volcanic activity of hollow's lantern which in turn push brittle hollow beyong it's structural integrity
@terribletablevods862
@terribletablevods862 2 месяца назад
@@PumatSol so the initial water leakage is normal. this is the exit path out of the turbines creating energy. usually, dams will also have an elevated exit path around the side in case water levels upstream got too high, but with a fixed amount of water in this enclosed space, it makes sense not to have one

As someone with depression that final scene where you can see the footsteps leading into the water where the prisoner ends it; That final memory message they leave behind, which is literally their last thoughts as they "step into the light" broke me something terrible. As far as he knows, you killed yourself to even get to where you are, you're already dead, you're trapped just like he was now, and your only option to escape is to follow in his footsteps (I didn't see if it happened when the loop cycled but if you step into the water after him to put out your torch and "join him" the game rolls credits instead of doing the time loop immediately.) So the fact that his last thoughts as he dies is you, his only friend, going with him, FUCKED ME UP

one of my favorite connections someone has ever made about this game was the shape of the eye of the universe itself. there's a patron satellite orbiting around the entire solar system that you can find and inspect, and it's meant to resemble voyager 1. on the real voyager 1 is a golden record inscribed with diagrams meant to help extraterrestrials find earth from the cosmos. the eye of the universe so closely resembles the shape at the bottom left on the record, a pulsar map meant to triangulate travelers to us from nearby star systems. i'm confident that was intentional. the visual of it makes me want to bawl my eyes out. ::,)
@alexv1154

one of my favorite theories about this game is that if the eye resets the universe every time, and the minds of the species that enter the eye influence the next one, then WE were the universe that preceded the Hearthians. The way you worked out the stealth part was inspiring! One of my favorite playthroughs of this game. It's fascinating how the order you do things can differ, especially in the base game. We did basically everything in reverse order so I basically went from "How did she already figure this stuff out?" to "How has she not already figured this out?"

In both supercuts I've noticed you're very good at reasoning.

The fun thing is the developers even said there was a part of the game everyone did that they didn't actually think everyone would do, and no one did the intended solution.. and its assumed that was the sneak section of the giant house you blow out, which you managed to skip, and do the intended way, haha.

I loved watching you play this right after just playing the DLC myself. You have this wonderful habit of working out or just accidentally stumbling into correct answers/secrets without first finding the in-game slides that expressly show you what to do, and it’s just very fun to see. Lol

Sometimes to see what's hidden in the dark we have to turn the light off ourselves. Loved the journey! And great work on your editing, it was a pleasurable watch. :))

Thanks for making these Outer Wilds videos, they are by far my favorite playthrough I've seen of the game!!! I also love your editing and lore between the original DLC videos.

It was an honor to experience your journey. I know how painful some of these scenes were, and I feel very safe knowing I wasn't alone in the tears and heartache throughout. Thank you for sharing this series with us. Perhapse no game can beat the raw power of Outer Wilds, but I look forward to seeing what you play in future! Whatever it may be.

caught your videos and thought they would be a great way to re-experience the game (as you can never really experience it again like you did the first time). You Have such genuine heartfelt reactions that it did not disappoint :).

Just starting this after the first supercut and I'm gonna say, it's really nice that you upped the video quality to 1080p60. It didn't hinder enjoyment of the first series but it definitely was something I was hoping for your playthrough of the DLC 😊

I shouldnt laugh but I always giggle when people reach the ‘emotionally compromised’ stage. That stage where the tear barrier is broken and just every tiny little thing sets it off again. Something amusingly human about it. Great playthrough, and what a game choice to kick off a channel with. Setting the bar super high for future games to keep up with.
