This show should've been much better than it was. I theorize that the writers focused on what passes for comedy, because it was easier than trying to utilize the talents of what was Disgusting Dan's most talented principal cast.

i think she lets out her anger to everyone because its sort of a defense mechanism to her. I saw some videos from the slap depicting that she grew up in a messy household with her parents always fighting and her dad with another wife, so im assuming she has issues with being rejected and left. Fresha Vocado Beck is also controlling but more subtle about it. He also gaslights Jade and plays into her jealousy, especially when he’s upset with her and he’s dismissive. Jade is justified in her jealousy but is overly aggressive. They’re both the worst when it comes to relationships. (They’re both toxic but on different sides of the spectrum)

I remember I’d feel relief when they broke up, then stressed when Beck started hanging out with Tori, then more stressed at the push pull between them, then hair pulling distress when Tori would reject Beck and he’d get back with Jade. This show stressed me as a kid

He was even going to explain that the cheerleader was 9 but he interrupted. I mean he did act like he was her father at times but half of the time she did behave like a child, and if you act like a child you’re going to get treated like a child.

Yeah the girl would toss a pair of scissors at someone's head and not think twice. I know Beck aint that good of a BF, not telling other girls he's with someone and dragging others into their issues, but Jade is straight up bitter, angry, and cruel.
something interesting to note is how Beck progressively becomes more like Jade. He started the series off pretty reserved, quiet, and accepting of whatever she did. By s4, he himself was retaliating like her. Just shows how a toxic relationship can be

This relationship exhausted me as a kid, I wanted Tori and Beck to get together because they actually really liked each other and were into each other. But I also didn’t want them to get together because Jade would never have forgiven Tori and because honestly Tori deserved better. Beck was so indecisive, he was into Tori, but he was so comfortable in his mess with Jade that he didn’t really try to pursue Tori or permanently end it with Jade. He treated Tori like a back up. Lol victorious was so messed up now I think about it

Their relationship model comes from the hot and cold stuff that was super popular in the 80s, the concept was that the fighting was a rep of sexual tensions and jealousy. It's like how Beck says that not fighting is boring before they get back together. It's not to say that their relationship is healthy in the least-- it isn't and they are both toxic to each, Beck passively and jade actively, but they wouldn't be nearly as crazy if they were with other people. They both would need to go to therapy and figure out the remaining baggage to ever be healthy with anyone else.

The issue with them is that Beck is way too flirtatious for his own good and does nothing to make it clear that he has a girlfriend, however Jade is both an abrasive bitter person and has awful trust issues in him (which is warranted all things considered) However, they both can't seem to stay away from each other. Funny enough, in season 1, it was JADE who broke down and cried when they broke up, however in season 3, BECK wanted to get back with her. They're BOTH an awful couple, but yet they somehow find themselves back together again.

Everyone is blaming Jade for their problems when Beck is just to blame if not more. Every time girls would flirt with him and touch him, he never shut it down. He didn’t necessarily encourage it but he definitely didn’t say “guys I have a girlfriend please leave me alone it’s creepy” which only made them keep doing it. He kissed Tori in the first episode right in front of his girlfriend knowing it would piss her off. Acting or not that was ridiculous. Even when they were broken up he went after Tori. He knew how Jade felt about Tori and still went after her despite it. Yes, Jade is jealous and possessive, but can you blame her? Beck always acts like he’s single and constantly lets girls flirt with him in front of Jade. After years of that constantly happening, it makes sense that she’s so insecure.
Beck Doesn't ever Flirt back he's usually indifferent towards the Girl that way no Feelings are hurt and or they don't get the wrong Idea. If the girl takes it too far he shuts it down contrast this to the numerous things Jade has done to him like, Obsessing over him and trying to control evrey facet of his life , treating him like shit on his birthday by only getting him a Can of Lemonade and then gets mad when Beck Calls her Late on her Birthday, Always Trying to start an Argument for no reasons at all, constantly insulting All of His Friends and Family which discourages them from wanting to hang out with Beck In First place cause they don't wanna deal with Jade which could lead to Beck being socially ostracized and Lonely only for Jade to swoop in on Beck's vunurble state of mind an Take Full Control of his life. The Death Skuller look this was an incredibly toxic relationship. I’m pretty sure everyone can agree on that. They’re flawed and yes Jade was worse at times but Beck also did some toxic stuff too. Neither of them were perfect which is why they never worked and constantly fought. This was just a high school relationship and they wanted it to last even when they were miserable because in high school everything feels final. I love both characters, so I wasn’t trying to hate on Beck. I was just saying that no one was perfect in that relationship so people need to stop putting all the blame on Jade. Also, why are we arguing about fictional characters from a Nickelodeon show that ended almost 8 years ago? You made really good, valid points. I think it has something to do with male and female perspective of things. What we think is extremely unfair and insecure in a relationship isn't what the guys think it is which and they rarely communicate, they just scream in each other's faces... About that Tori kiss tho, I mean a lot of actors and actresses have their own family but they have to do scenes with people, that's being professional. (Unfortunately for Jade because she was already very insecure with Beck's good look) they just aren't what each other is looking for. Without love, a relationship could never last but just having love but nothing else can not make a relationship last either.

yeezyhendrix kids show or no there are a lot of darker themes to this show. Tori and Trina’s parents that are not good parents, Jade and Becks relationship, Cat’s very mentally ill brother, etc. those all have serious darker themes that are portrayed comically. Also having an anxiety attack that causes you to faint is very bad and dangerous. She could have gotten hurt and her friends laughed it off and left her alone. I doubt they even told anybody that she was in there.

My opinion- Yes, Jade was very toxic and insecure, but she had good reason to be. Beck let other girls flirt with him, sometimes purposefuly knowing that Jade was insecure about it and would get mad, just to toy around with her. But, I'm not excusing Jade's behaviour either, because there definitely times where she was rude for no reason. Either way, it was a toxic situation and needed a little working out, but there were good moments with them.
Younger me: their relationship is so cute! He's the one only who understands her and knows how to deal with her. Older me: oh sweet baby jesus please dont get back together

And i think they could've worked as a couple, even if it was just for a few episodes (in the hambone king they pretty much act like a couple the whole episode and they seem to have good chemistry), even if they wouldn't have been endgame. As for tori, i like tori and andre as well but i feel like the writers wasted so many chances to explore a relationship between them that it was more likely for jade and andre to date than tori and andre

Honestly their relationship made me so anxious as a kid especially the scene where cat passed out, the laugh track did nothing to lighten up the situation for me. Weird that it still has the same effect years later haha

@SuperstarGalaxy 127 tori was annoying but she wasn't the worst. just like trina wasn't the worst, but shows clear signs of having to grow up too fast due to absent parents and having to mother both herself and tori, the lack of attention from parental figures having resulted in overcompensation. and beck and jade also weren't the worst just like andré, cat and robbie weren't. if you think about it the whole show was fucked up and none of the characters were actually suited for healthy relationships.
