The full set of changes I've made so far to my Becker BK10. I'll be sending this on to a friend who can put it to good use and evaluate it properly.
Let me know if you want to see more knife modification updates.

I mod'ed my BK10 as well. Stripped it, sanded the bevel down to 320grit to remove the factory grind lines, ground off the thumb ramp, added gimping where the thumb ramp used to be, squared the spine to 90*, ground the heel into a 1/8" glass-breaker, profiled the point a little, added TKC G10 handles.

I own a LOT of knives, including the BK3, 5, 7, 9, 10, saber ground 16 and 17. Years later I've only got around to stripping the coating, forcing patinas on them with different acidics and sourcing better scales. I've used the Kabar micarta scales and a few of the knife connection ones but they still felt slick to me, I like almost sand paper texture grips. VZ Grips does great scales with some rough texturing (which balances out my BK-9 well) but I'd recommend 'Carroll’s custom knife scales' for a really good product. I've various types of scale on each knife but my BK-10 uses a type that is identical to my Buck Ground Combat Knife grips which are some of my favorite among all the knives I own.

I think we all agree on the sheaths and grip scales on those BK knives. One product I always liked was the Kershaw Camp 10 knife/machete, very well balanced, comfortable and fairly priced.

Great video as always! I learn something from you every time. I have a BK16. I stripped the finish following an old RU-vid tutorial , using paint stripper. I bought the micarta scales from Ka-Bars website. Might take a stab at the cold blue after seeing yours. Been daydreaming about getting an AZ Welke kydex sheath for it. Thanks for sharing your journey.

do you have a video showing you doing your modifications to the knife and what you used? In case anyone else would like to do it too.

I don't. Between the cramped shop space and the dust kicked up sanding killing my camera, the process being like watching grass grow, and all the cursing and self-injury that would get me banned on RU-vid, best I'm able to do is some pics of the different steps at this point.

Great video! Have you taken a look at any of the beaver craft or BPS knives? Some of their models are of comparable size to the BK-10 and they run about $40 with a decent sheath. I recently got a BPS Adventurer and it is rapidly becoming my favorite knife. Good fit and finish out of the box and almost shaving sharp.

BPS and Beavercraft look like they would make excellent competition for Condor! Thanks!

I don't like coated blade too, I will never use them to cut things to eat and this limits a lot the use of a knife in my opinion. For this reason I have only the bk 11, really nice blade shape and great steel. Michael do you think is possible to remove that coating using sandpaper only? I don't want to use corrosive substance, thank you.

Sandpaper will work with effort. I started using fine sanding belts which really gummed up the belts and potentially scratched the finish, and have switched to alternating coats of lacquer thinner and a wire wheel. I tried a flap stripping wheel but it was also too abrasive.

What did you use to take of the coating

"Softened" with lacquer thinner and then stripped with a wire wheel on my bench grinder.

@@michaelrizzo5523 and could you just leave it silver with the steel instead of applying a finish?

@@owenrindlerfishing1576 You could. It might need some polishing.

@@owenrindlerfishing1576 I left mine 'silver' but did sand the bevel down to 320grit to remove the factory grind lines. A little mineral oil once in a while is all it needs to stay rust free.
