My favorite thing about these videos is that it feels like he's reacting to the powerpoint. As if someone else made it and the only way noah survives is through improvising to make content lest the man in the shadows, the herald of the powerpoints would kill him Someone save him
i like to think that noah is actually trying really hard to present this nicely but he gets really anxious and it looks like a comedy but its really a tragedy (to him it is a comedy to us)
This deck is to turbofog what the music genre sludge is to grunge, a removal of anything resembling speed and dynamism leaving behind nothing but endless droning and drudgery, that which goes on and on and on with no peaks, only the sensation of wading through a field gone completely muddy after a storm. It’s beautiful. I love it.
I believe the root of the problem is people having cards in their hand in the first place. That's why Greel, my good friend, is such a good friend (he's a good friend).
As a dedicated "I have no friends" deck player in Oloro Stax and Norin Chaos, this makes me very happy, keep spreading the good word of friendless EDH :)
I like lavinia, azorius renegade for losing friends. You can do all the same stax stuff plus you have a combo with knowledge pool and you have access to blue for counters in the early game.
@@LS19981 Blue cards aren't inherently more or less expensive than other cards, just because they're blue. Counterspells are incredibly cheap. Expensive Dual Lands are expensive, yes. But they are cheap ones, as well. Mostly ones, that come into play tapped. You can also just not play Dual Lands. Not sure, if there are budget Lavinia decks. Maybe TheCommandersQuarters has a video for a budget list. In summary, don't cry. You have options. Use them. Adapt and overcome.
had a person genuinely run this card with a tutor at my lgs, in a 6 player game. we instantly all scooped, and he would not shut the fuck up for the rest of the day over how good he is
@@Playingwithproxies Basically what we told him, but he gloated the entire time anyways. He kept using the excuse "it's just pieces of cardboard." anyways, next game he scooped, we used the same excuse on him and he left the lgs shortly after
Dear god, this deck. I remember watching cgb play this on Arena, and it was infuriating for me as a spectator to watch him spend 5 minutes trying to find the infinite combo that would allow him to win the game.
Avacyn angel of hope is an amazing card for this very fun group hug deck...... that everyone will love cause your the greatest if you play this yes hahahaagagaga dies inside*
Haven't played stax in a long time, but Oswald actually looks like it works nicely with it, as it always gets the most annoying piece of stax for any situation. Will have to include Divine intervention as "wincon" because people love a good nongame. Thx for the inspiration.
I was watching this video and then my neighbour came and we watched it together. He said that this video changed his life and touched his heart. I then went and rented a projector in a big field and my entire town watched it and it changed their lives too. We all are so grateful. Thank You for this video….
People don't understand just how much you can do with 1 land now. It's terrifying. Winter orb might make your casual friends cry, but the competitive players can easily get around it.
There are also a bunch of cards that let you untap your lands at other times. Winter Orb only says you can only untap one land during *your* untap step. Have Wilderness Reclamation or Seedborn Muse? Hey, you get all of your lands untapped at a time that isn't your untap step.
A little known thing about winter orb and other old artifacts is that if they are tapped they actually lose their ability, so if you can untap it before your turn you can untap lands but your opponents can't if you then tap it again before their turn, even more fun
I ran a mono-blue commander deck for a while. It was so toxic that even after people won a game against it they would tell me they never wanted to play against that deck ever again. This reminds me of that, and I smile.
Or... Meria, Scholar of Antiquity, with a winter orb, static orb, some utility and 0 drop artifacts, some ways to mass destroy lands, and ways to recover your own, of course. You'll be able to tap the orbs before your turn and let the mana go unused so that everything untaps on your turn. I play with someone who built their Urza deck like that.
I used to play a stax/pox/death and taxes/jank wincons/general slow-everything-down deck using Child of Alara as the commander in a playgroup that liked semi-competitive (generally turn 4-5) EDH decks. I liked to call it group anti-hug. If you pace yourself (don't just instantly lock the board) and let people find answers it really doesn't feel like a slog but gives some of the less competitive decks some time to shine. Usually it would bring games to turn 9-10.

There was a random guy that came up to me in a convention years ago and asked if he could play his legacy deck against my modern deck. I agreed. On turn 2 he played that spell where I couldn't untap more than one of my lands per turn. As soon as he played that card I quit, and I didn't feel bad about it in the least bit. I think to this day that guy is still trying to find someone that will play a game of magic with him. This deck is absolute cancer lol
I love your videos, I built the Maralen deck, going to "suprise" my group..lmao. I built a chaos deck, Pramikon.. Everyone hates it, same ish theme... piss everyone off enough they rage quit.
Monowhite Stax... sounds like fun. However, Stax without Blue feels a bit sad. There's so many Blue cards that makes your opponent cry. Like Stasis... Back to Basics, Frozen Aether, In the Eye of Chaos... Land Equillibrium... Mana Breach... Pendrell Mists, Overburden, Propaganda... There's just too much fun to have with UW Stax. I mean, Frozen Aether+Stasis+Land Equillibrium and your opponent will scoop. All opponents lands enter tapped, and everyone skips their untap step, and no one can have more lands than you. Toss in an Eon Hub, and you're done. No untap for your opponent and no one has an upkeep, and Stasis is eternal. And your opponents are locked out of the game.
If you like Oswald Fiddlebender, may I introduce you to Arcum Dagsson? Sure, he may not get artifact creatures, but he can turn your roombas into toasters.
I didn't realize this is not fun for the other players but I like to play artifact tapers in my deck to tap the winter orb so I can untap all of my lands but the winter orb becomes untaped when my lands do so I guess it sucks to play magic against this deck and you could also play kismiat to make it were your opponents lands come into play taped and you could play stasis to keep every every thing from untapping and certain blue elementals to bounce the stasis back to you right before your turn and play a bunch of blue counter magic and white removal. And play a card to reshuffle your graveyard back in to you library and make it one of the slowest lock down wins ever and maybe people will quit playing magic lol I love your videos
I have a winter orb deck with Derevi, exclusively reserved for people that I don't like or don't like playing against. It's basically the same thing as this :)
Had a friend that played a stax deck like this. At first, my other friends defended him from me whenever I started focusing him when he sat down. Then, many many many hours later, after the first game, they joined me. Not only was it a brutally oppressive deck, he also didn't have a win condition...
I recently brought an oops all counterspell deck to EDH with out a wincon. I played a few games and the first 2 where unimpressive. Maybe 15 counters and I was out. The last one had some crazy stuff happened that I benefited way to hard from and I was holding 60 cards with no discarding at end of phase., mostly counterspells in my hand. It was awful for everyone. The experience was 10/10. But now I need to move on.. to new ways to convince my friend group I am a horrible person. I need to make this deck.
reminds me of that friend that decided to build a shrine commander deck which creates shrine tokens and apply effects in proportion to the number of shrine tokens it's real funny to clear my board and discard my hand EVERY turn 🤡
I've always been resistant to playing commander, but I am now ordering this to be my one and only commander deck. Maybe it will help keep people from continually asking me to play this goofy format.
