Hi, I'm a new old student. New because I have been study a four years and old because I'm forty nine. My first linguage is Portuguese and I will dedicate more from now watching your videos.
Despite of my two native languages, English is my 3rd language which I startet to learn in school (fluent by now) I am also learning Spanish (conversationally fluent) and Japanese (Beginner A1) for fun. So i have a bit of „successful language experiences“. I have to say that I hate when beginner are forced to „communicate“ and forced to have a conversation with generic phrases forced into their heads, from their textbooks, which they won’t ever use in real live. In Spanish it took me one year to be able to form small sentences and they were short and easy, built from the words I learned and not the generic ones. I started small with speaking and from there my speaking abilities gradually increased. I also used/am using shadowing, as you mentioned, a lot and reading whole books out loud it did really wonders for my speaking abilities.
Reading whole books out loud is real dedication! Very inspirational for other language students, no matter the language they're learning... thank you for sharing!
Your speed of speech is perfect, at least for me. Again I thank you and ask you to keep posting videos. In return I can guide you on how to grow a channel or a website, especially if you plan to monetize. I am a Spanish speaker.
You are a great teacher. I am a teacher and executive manager in a private school in Istanbul Turkey. I live in Canadian London during the summer. I will be there first week of June until in the middle of September. I will visit some schools and universities while I am in London. I am trying to build a bridge between Turkey and Canada. If it is possible, I want to visit you.
Thank you for your kind comment! I’ve been to Istanbul (when my son was ten months old!) and we absolutely loved it. I live very far away from London, Ontario but I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors!
4:33 I have been practicing this technique recently and I'm glad to see for the first time a teacher talking about it by actually practicing it 😭💕 thanks!! new follower✌🏼
Thanks a lot! So far, I've been practicing English on my own by consuming as much English content as possible, mainly through listening. Sometimes I read out loud and shadow, but I haven't had a clear purpose behind these activities. Now, I'm going to follow the steps you mentioned.
Awesome! Seems like you’re doing great already. Don’t be afraid to adjust/alter the activities to best fit your personality (for example, in step 3, changing or adding to the questions to better match your content choices). Best of luck!
One more efficient step is to write comments under videos of this gorgeous channel 😊 And it works multifunctional! 1. You force your brain to come up with what to say in English 2. You practice writing 3. You can check grammar with gpt and ask it to explain your mistakes 4. YT will promote this video to other people because of your activity, Brittany will be happy because of better statistics and will put even more effort into teaching you and me next time 😁
Thank you for the useful tips for introverts like me. I will start implementing these methods from today. Your videos are always a huge motivation for me. Please continue doing this. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Brittany, thanks for your useful videos, I'm really happy to follow your channel step by step. I'm also really impressed by your french prononciation, you rock!! Cheers from France btw 😉
I already loved you! The video captured my attention the entire time, it was very entertaining. As a visual learning I loved how you simulated the differents tips that you gave us. Amazing content. Keep going 🤩
My experience suggests that it's extremely hard to stick to one way of practice for a longer period of time, especially when it's not fun but training. The brain doesn't cooperate for different reasons 😊. But I can spot some potential advantages in talking with toys as you presented in different video. My niece is almost 3, once I pretended to be a teddy zebra and she was so, so, so engaged in speaking to it. I have two Teddy bears at home and I gave it a try and it's fun!! One of them I called a Sleepy Teddy Bear and the second one is The lawyer teddy bear 🐻 they can speak pretty easy when they speak to each other. They also ask me something every so often ;)
Love from India ❤❤.i like your content so much. Thanks a lot mam for your efforts. I usually Read books, listen podcast or clip, practice speaking mam. If you could then also make pronounciation video for us in future
The weird think is that my country is billingual, but in my area we speak only in native language. I didn’t learn second language, I learned my native one, I didn't have the practice to speak, but I could speak ( The languages are different btw ) with the only help - TV
I have friends who have experienced this as well - hearing and “absorbing” the language for many years and suddenly being able to speak it, although perhaps not 100% comfortably. Very cool!
