You could be a the master real estate and seller of The Emerald City, while taking professional re courses in NYC and partnering with the NYC crew for peeps/companies looking to settle or open up in Seattle. A stronger play on the partnership would definitely be LA/SF + NYC. For a situation closer to a mental equilibrium, a Seattle + NYC or LA/SF + NYC setup would be good (imho). You're doing great Monica 💛 🌷 congrats.

Monica, I think your decision is made for you when your own sister roots for you! I don’t think you would do something like that against the advice of family but if Shelby thinks its right up your alley, you have the wind at your back. The only question left for you to answer is whether to go for it!

If you both did NY real estate y’all could get a nice place together for the dogs! Or be a snowbird like me! Go to New York in rainy months if SEA then be in SEA in summer months or whatever months works for you! Or do the 3,3,3. 1/3 part SEA;1/3 part CA, 1/3 part NY ;) What you decide we’ll be here to encourage you on!

You can tell in Shelby’s videos that when she was in New York she loved it and had excitement in her eyes every day! I was a little disappointed when she got the Seattle apartment because she seemed so happy and refreshed in NY. I’m glad you are excited about NY too because you two could move there together and figure out NYC together (and split the high rent costs).

It's a smart move on Ryan's part especially with your youtube reach and the ability to get clients via youtube. He's started using social media to get an upper hand in real estate and you'd be a great addition to that. It'd be a lot of work though and a completely different mentality than Seattle. So if you're feeling burnt out in Seattle, NY might not be the best option. Would your BF also be down to go? 3 hour time change and a huge workload are not great for a relationship.

I'm sure you don't want to get into all of it in a video but what happens with your personal life and relationships is really key at this age too. You have to factor in spending all of your vacations flying to California to see family, if you see yourself in New York ten years from now with a family, etc. Given how successful you have been in Seattle in just one year, it feels like there is room to grow exponentially in the upcoming year--or even better, not make work the focus of your life and spend that energy on relationships and creative pursuits. If you do go out there, bargain hard--the fact that you pulled so many people in from social media in one year makes you stand out a lot from the typical starting agent.

Seattle will always be there for you as well but I think that it's time to take a chance and just go for it! I've been following you and Shelby for a couple years, and I think this is the first time I've posted. I love you guys's (is that even a word?) energy, even when you slip into the times when you question your ability to figure things out. Y'all is crazy good at coming out on top after a rough patch, and that is amazing. The questions you're asking yourself right now re NYC is just amazing...not to mention brave. Particularly after having (whatever YOU might think of it) such a remarkably successful year in Seattle. . Being in a jobby-job (so to speak) has matured you in ways you are now just starting to explore. I don't know what your final decision will be about this opportunity - and I am loath to offer any suggestions (and won't) - but I can't imagine that whatever you finally come up with will allow you to grow in ways you cannot now even imagine! GOOD LUCK! Oh, one more thing. I'd bet that the number of r.e. sales peeps who ever leave their patch is really, really tiny, so following your muse is, to quote myself, brave and gutsy.
@lafenn5332
@lafenn5332 2 года назад
Your comment about risking it in NY or playing it safe in Seattle really spoke to me. Mainly because staying in Seattle isn't necessarily a "safe" choice. You can take risks there too. Sometimes all we need is is a mindset change and not a location change. You seem to have addressed the pros and cons of such a move as it is not all glitzy like the brochure says it is...although the lure can be quite tempting. I could see you taking like a year off of Seattle and giving NY a try but seems like it would take quite of bit of work and more time to get yourself up to where you'd be comfortable and pleased. Wish you all the best with what you decide.

While you have drive and ambition, you’ll really have to know you’re going to have to bust your ass and hustle for a good number of years. Little fish in a big pond. Also, you’d have to really put aside a lot of your current relationships with family, sister, boyfriend and your current hobbies. It won’t be easy and tbh you seem to get bored easily and like to chg things up. Think long and hard about this one. You are young with no real responsibilities yet like a husband or children. You are able to hustle but you have to be committed to keeping that also going for quite a while.

Considering you’re still very young, I say go for it! The personal and professional growth you’ll get from living in NY even for a year is unmatched… I’m from Washington and lived in seattle for 11 years, moved to NY when I was 29 and wished I moved sooner / younger. I think it’s hard to stay in NY long term for many reasons but the experience for any amount of time is something you’ll never regret. I remember leaving NY and being back in seattle and immediately missing NY too…. Try it!!

Seems to be a nice opportunity! But I have this feeling it will come at great cost. You've been struggling with combining RU-vid and real estate since like forever, and it's going to be even busier over there while you basically have to rebuild your whole life there, which is stressful too. Don't know... it seems a sure way to burn out quickly. Is there a way to try it out for a month or so, then decide? How does Jason feel about it?

Monica is considering a move to NYC? NYC Mayor Eric Adams commented this week to the NY Post how shocked he was to learn how bad NYC has become after he rode the subways for 3 hours last week. As the NY Post noted, grand larcenies and auto thefts have skyrocketed by 50% and 48% respectively and robberies are up about 40%. Adams said his first initiative would be to crack down on rule breaking in the subways and stop homeless people from living in stations. Monica may be used to all of that since she lives in Seattle?

No shade to the company, but I felt like they were talking to you as if you were a client, not necessarily a future employee of the company. Just seemed too sugar-coated for me. I think you bring so much value, it doesn’t do you justice for them to simply start you on a “team”.
