At the one hour three minute portion, I felt that. I also set aside a career that I loved for my wife and children. Men, there is a calling that is greater than your career and ambitions and that is being a husband and father. It is tough and you will have doubts, but I assure you, being a husband and father is worth much more than any accolade that a career can give.

My son is in SERE school right now. So far he's doing well but has a lot ahead of him. He's just like Mitch always in the woods and when he got to Lackland for selection he was an honor grad and received the cadre award. He's a believer and me and his mother truly believe God created him just for this career choice. Really enjoyed the podcast and especially the thought provoking question did Judas have a moment where he reached salvation? Blew my mind and I'm going to share it with m oldest son who is a campus pastor at North Carolina State. It'll be interesting to hear his response. I want to thank ALL Y"ALL for your service, GOD BLESS AMERICA.... Be Blessed and Be A Blessing!

As for civilian it is important to remember that you don't have army backing you. Civilian is either lost in permissive enviroment - that's more wilderness survival because we want to be found. Or in the middle of enemy controled territory with almost no thing like safe territory. There simply is no forward line of own troops to cross and there is no blackhawk to evac you to FOB.

It's interesting to see some things never change. I went through SERE back in 1987. His story about stressing people out enough to get them out of their comfort zone and maybe kill a live rabbit with a club brought me back to 1987. I had to laugh while he told his story, it is exactly what happened with our group. The most mild and timid female aircrew member went full Rambo on us when stress met hunger. She killed the rabbit, lots of blood, and we all took part in skinning, cleaning and drying for jerky. Wow, that was a long time ago!

@@MadeinAmerica123 For me, I just look at food. But, for most people it's calories In vs. calories Out. It's of course all dependent on the type of calories. And, at the end of the day you just have to be able to except your genetic make up. Chicken breasts is still (even under Bidenomics) the cheapest leanest complete protein you can get. Protein shakes are great to have to get the protein and calories in WHEN you don't have the time. Start there. Give it a go. You just happen to ask the right person. @@MadeinAmerica123 I just remembered: Lentils. Lentils, lentils, lentils. They are super cheap, coupled with rice they become a complete protein, and are a great food for prepping, because they are a legume and last a long time. You can always doctor them up if you're not big into the taste. They are a super food, so if you're trying to get extra protein and fiber in, they can be calorie dense. 1 cup of of lentils and 1/2 cup of white rice is ~330 calories. I add different spices and different hot sauces to non-dullify them. I know that tracking nutrition is boring, but if you get a good app, spend the time in the first 2-4 weeks, it will just have the foods stored because we tend to eat the same shit. You will see where you are strong and weak in your nutrition. I will say that if you really try to keep your fiber up, the easiest way to do this is through lentils (for the taste, price, ease of prep, versatility, etc.) you'll start seeing your calories climb.

I was sharing this with my oldest son who is a campus pastor at North Carolina State and he immediately went to John 17:12- While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. Your question is worthy of discussion but I feel this scripture pretty much answers your question.

1:38:44 Hey Josh -- on the topic of the healing of America and timing -- I hope you don't hold yourself to the same timeline for repentence as you do America. You're a solid dude. You, I, and our nation can change anything we want to change, and we can do it very fast. It's a satanic lie that it takes years and years and eons of eternity to repent. It takes exactly as long to repent as it takes us to say, “I’ll change”-and mean it. Of course there's problems to work out and restitutions to make. We'll probably spend (and we better) the rest of our lives proving our repentance by its permanence. But change, growth, renewal, and repentance can come instantaneously. And the actual healing of the American system can take place as quickly as the Constitution healed a dieing infant of a country we were for 8 years before that.

The erasure of religion, the denigration of the US and it's folk heros, the distancing ones self from your own people or tribe, the atomization of society. I wonder, does that microcosm of the individual in a POW camp who lost the will to survive also apply to the macro scale?

Saying that you can get a college education by going to the library is like me saying that I can shoot just as well as a SF operator by teaching myself to shoot at the range. You can kinda get close on paper, but in a real world test of your abilities it will be painfully obvious that you're unprepared.
@CoryIsMyName
@CoryIsMyName 5 месяцев назад
@@iamtherealrauschguy Sure, maybe a small subset could get an equivalent education on their own, but those people are few and far between. I get the opportunity to interview many self-taught programmers in my line of work and while some are pretty good, most are not. Sure, they can rattle off any algorithm and its application, but when I sit them in front of an established codebase and ask them to implement something within the constraints of a real world scenario they usually fail pretty hard. The thing that's great about a formal education is that it doesn't just teach you about the subject matter at hand. You learn things like how to evaluate the credibility of sources and how to recognize your own confirmation bias. The true value of a college education is not just about learning facts, but learning how to use those facts to form logical conclusions, and then be able to defend those conclusions. If all you've done is read books in a library, then all you know how to do is repeat what you've read.
@mikehawkslong5529
@mikehawkslong5529 5 месяцев назад
Well that is an apple to orange comparison. Anybody can learn knowledge through a book, a skill like fighting or shooting takes thousands of hours of practice to truly hone. Almost anybody can learn the history if america in a week and recite most of it with relative ease at the end, not everybody can learn to tape and mud dry wall and be considered pretty dang good within a week. One is an art form, the other is general knowledge that anybody can read.
@CoryIsMyName

@@mikehawkslong5529 Tell me you didn't go to college without telling me you didn't go to college. There is more to an education than just memorizing facts. I get to interview a lot of self-taught programmers, and while some are good, most are not. Sure, they can rattle off any Algorithm or Design Pattern, but when I sit them down in front of an established codebase and ask them to implement something within the constraints of a real world scenario, most fail pretty hard. Your analogy is incorrect. Going to a library and learning the history of America is like going to the library and reading about hanging drywall. If all you've done is read about it, the first time you go to hang some you're going to be pretty bad at it. See, I know nothing about being in the military, and next-to-nothing about guns, but the things I learned in college allowed me to take a big dump all over your uninformed argument.

I get to interview a lot of self-taught programmers, and while some are good, most are not. Sure, they can rattle off any Algorithm or Design Pattern, but when I sit them down in front of an established codebase and ask them to implement something within the constraints of a real-world scenario, most fail pretty hard. A formal education isn't just about memorizing facts. It's about using those facts to form logical conclusions, and then having to defend those conclusions. Very few people are able to push themselves outside of their comfort zone on their own. If you think that someone can push themselves as hard as BUD/S Hell Week completely on their own, you're wrong. College is the same way in that it pushes you to think about things differently than you have in the past. It teaches you things like how to evaluate the credibility of sources, and how to recognize your own confirmation bias. If all you do is read books in a library, than all you'll be able to do is recite facts, and that's not what an education is.

Judas was a tool in God's plan. It was predetermined (oh em gee, bad word, guysth!) he would set the wheels in motion. We call it betrayal, but that could just be what the imagery of God's plan needed. I could totally see them having a conversation about how he was used in this manner and his sins a) weren't his own or b) were forgiven before he committed them. Ultimately it's not for us to decide and we can't know until we're dead, but it's a good thought experiment.
