Becoming a Sock Knitter episode one
I have tried learning to knit socks in the past but they’ve always been a challenge for me. I am excited to figure out how to successfully make cute cozy hand knit socks for myself and my loved ones.
Here is the link to the book I am using for my color work sock patterns: www.amazon.com...
I highly recommend it if you are new to socks or not!
Here is the RU-vid video that has helped me figure out my magic loop: • Knitting Help - Simple...
I’d love to hear about your sock knitting journey, especially if you are doing one of the patterns in this book!

Im new to knitting. Color work socks are my goal. Iv made the "my favorite vanilla socks" knitting them on 9 inch circular needles made a HUGE difference for me, its less finicky. This book is gorgeous, I added it to my cart thank you for an honest review.

Definitely give colorwork a try! My first pair of colorwork socks came out too small so I had to change my plan and make them into mittens. I’m trying again now! Also, totally loving this book :) she also sells patterns individually. Her instagram is @ stoneknits

Qi love your video, thank you for sharing. I’m learning also on the magic loop, third time seems to be the charm this time.

This video was recommended. I knit a bunch of socks last year. It was a great way to learn a lot about knitting. Crazy Sock Lady has a summer sock camp knit along starting this week. I'm hoping participating will encourage me to get some more socks made. :D I'm going to see what other videos you have made now. :D

How is your sock knitting camp going?! Were you able to join in? I finished my first pair of successful socks while on a train to the Amalfi coast on my honeymoon and I am so happy with how they came out! They have the cutest little butterfly colorwork :)

I have that book and am working on the snowflake pattern. Slow going only because I got side-tracked by the desire to knit sweaters. Advise: just go for it. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Earthtonesgirl has some wonderful tutorials.

I laughed when I saw this video title and then your name because I became interested in knitting socks when I was pregnant and then mama to my second baby and I am sure it was the mom brain but for the life of me I could NOT figure them out. I wanted to knit them so badly that I would have dreams of knitting them! When I finally knit my first pair with an afterthought heel I told my husband I wanted them buried with me 😂 anyways, figure them out before those babies! Some tips- use different yarn! I would do a sock yarn with wool and nylon. Wool wicks away moisture and merino is especially good at temperature regulation. I live in Texas and love wool socks at home in the AC! Cotton also tends to have no give, which will hurt your hands after so many stitches and at such a tight gauge it’s not gonna be a pleasant experience. Cotton is also not ideal for color work as it doesn’t like to “grab” on to the other yarn, which helps your floats especially if you’re still figuring out your tension. Third, I’m not sure how cotton will wear on the feet without any other fiber blended into it, usually nylon or polyamide. For color work, I would highly recommend a 9 in. needle to avoid laddering and having to switch needles when you’re just getting the hang of knitting color work, either single handed or with both hands. I do love magic loop for regular socks though, but never use it while knitting color work sleeves or socks unless I have no choice! I do realize this video is five months old, so I hope you were successful and are still pursuing sock knitting! 🙏

Wow thank you so much! So many helpful tips :) I will definitely experiment with new yarns and needles. I just finished knitting a pair that I’m very excited about and I’m looking forward to getting even better at my socks. Also, what a cute story! My husband and I are trying to get pregnant now with our first and I bought yarn on our honeymoon last month for some future baby knits. They are so cute I just can’t wait to knit them up haha

I got this book at the beginning big the year and finally cast on socks this last week! I'm making the Tiptoe through the Tulips socks and the Cherry on top socks - though i realised my main colour for the last one had no nylon in it so I've frogged them and am looking for another main colour. I've knit a lot of socks but not really colourwork ones so hoping to master that next!

G’day Kristen from South Australia 🇦🇺you popped onto my screen today and I enjoyed your conversation a lot. Seriously, This very week in my mail box was a copy of this knitting book you showed, a birthday gift from my beautiful daughter who resides in another state Queensland, I couldn’t believe it 😂 She had purchased it on line through Amazon too and we had a video call with her when parcel arrived and I showed her the book and we talked about favourite patterns we liked. This was such fun as my daughter owns a small farm with her husband with a beautiful garden so the lavender socks were a treat, the cherries another favourite, we chose chillies socks for her husband because he’s pretty proud of the various hot varieties he grows, the cherries she loved and my favourite is the swan socks. I’m so glad you thought this knitting book was fun and looking forward to seeing your ice cream socks finished, delicious 😂 I’m in process of knitting socks as I watch you. Thank you

Such a funny coincidence! Still enjoying the book a ton. I just finished making the butterfly socks and they came out so great :) Hoping to make the lavender ones in the near future once I get the right yarn. I hope you and your daughters sock knitting is going well
