Recent research from the Netherlands followed a large group of children and found that the vast majority of them grow out of their gender confusion. Edie does not have the space to explore this and potentially reverse this decision as it doesn’t bring in money for the parents. They have talked so much about Edie being trans that Edie couldn’t change their mind, even if they wanted to. So sad.

Serious question Anna - how does a 5/6 year old (or even younger as you state) understand gender? I have sons and at that age they didn’t know the real difference between men and women other than the basics of clothes/appearance. I think the fact he was so young is the thing that people struggle to accept, he was asked about it by Jonathan in one of your videos and he said he didn’t want to play football he wanted to wear dresses or something to that effect. That to me is a child that doesn’t understand what it is to be female.

It is impossible for a four year old to know that they want to change gender. the parents have done this for their channel and may have gained financially that is a form of abuse you should be ashamed of yourselves and not allowed to be parents.

Why can't your son just like girl stuff and wear it? Why put that on him so young? So many trans are hating themselves for transitioning years later and can't change it

Theres legit nothing wrong with supporting edie. I still think its exploitative but thats also bc i feel like she deserves to be protected bc the world just isnt kind. No Anna, you're not a "Trans Mom". Please amend your title to this vlog. What I don't understand is, as your child's Mom, can you not keep this private within your family? It is admirable of you wanting to help another Mom in a similar situation, being able to withstand all the hate and negativity, but one very important consideration you've overlooked is PROTECTING YOUR CHILD'S PRIVACY. As a Mom you should be putting your child's best interest above all else. Please, please have a re-think of what you said in this vlog.

I'm a supporter, but I do have some feedback. As a supporter, it feels like any time Anna has spoken about this topic it becomes a circular conversation geared towards haters and not toward the supporters that this content should be made for, which in a way, I personally think opens her up to more negative feedback. Now that this conversation has been had and if she truly is ready to publicly speak on this topic, I very much hope that the material can move on toward not being so much about her response to haters and about her day to day life that we all love. I know that the internet is full of really crappy people, but I believe catering to them and showing how effected you have been by it is a mistake... in my humble opinion.

Some people are so quick to dismiss Edie's feelings, as someone who has questioned their gender since they were around 6-8 years old i can tell you now that the feelings of not being their correct gender are very real. Back then (in the 90s) there was no social media so there was no outside influence for me to feel that way but due to society pressures i hid my feelings for years. It's wonderful to see that Edie has two supportive parents who are letting her be herself, i can't even comprehend why people a problem with it.

I am sorry, but this is not about you! Your child has the right to privacy. I am so sad that your children have to grow up in front of the Camera and are, well, your moneymakers. It is funny how everything becomes about you and Jonathan. Often misleading titles to get views. I have 4 children, all grown up now, and I NEVER put images of them on social Media when they were little, because of their right of privacy and even now that they are in their 20s and 30s I would ASK permission before I would put a photo of them on social media. You are an Adult and can choose whether to show yourself on Camera on a daily basis, but your children are too young to make such a big decision. I hope it will not turn on them when they are looking for jobs or start socialising outside the home. If you want to show the world your tummy tuck and Jonathan his hair transplant, that is up to you as you be able to deal with the reactions, but put yourself in the Shoes of Daughters and your Son. No, I am not a hater, I am just concerned about the consequences for your children, in the future. I have a 2-month-old Granddaughter, and I even asked my Son and his fiancé if it is OK to show photos of her to my Sisters.

Dear Anna, I have watched your video carefully and i am glad you and your family feel happy. However i want to share my thoughts. Someone who is transgender is not about wanting to wear dresses and to have long hair etc. People seem to confuse gender (being female or male) to being feminine/masculine based on societal standards. You could be a boy but like feminine things just like girls who like to play football and dress only with pants does not mean they are boys. Someone who is trully trans has experienced gender disphoria in the sense that they do not identify with the male/female parts of their body and anatomy (hense sex reassignment surgery, having more male/female biological characteristics such as deeper/thinner voice, increased muscel tone, more hair based on testosterone/oestrogen levels etc) before anything else that may come with it such as outfits, changing names and pronouns etc. Of course cross-dressing or acting stereotypicly like the opposite gender is also part of being trans but not the primary/main indicator! It is a struggle that someone at the age of 4 is very unlikely to have trully experienced. The reasons why a boy may like to dress and act more feminine may have to do with things like identifying more with the mom or sisters as examples in the house, being a feminine boy, etc and i believe these should be explored first before solidifying that someone is trans. You cannot even talk about a clear sexual orientation in that age let alone a gender identity. I think this is why today so many people identify as "trans, non-binary" etc, because they think that this is based on things like "oh i do not feel comfortable being called a he/she, i dont feel good dressed as a boy" etc. The only thing i hope for is for the child to not reach a point in life where there will be regret and/or resentment

I remember years ago (when you were at the previous house) edie being so upset at getting her hair cut in a vlog (years before transition!). Now it makes perfect sense! For the people paying attention this wasnt surprising at all. Feedback or criticism towards you and Jonathan about how youve gone about things is one thing, but edie's transition cant be debated. The way you have shared her transition on her own terms and allowed her to share what she wants, is one of the reasons why she is now one of the happiest, confident and brave young ladies I’ve ever known 🤍 you have given her that safe space and it’s so clear to see how positive that has been for her!

I am so happy for Edie that she can be her true self and has the full support, help, and love of her parents and siblings. There are so many children that unalive themselves because they feel so alone in this world while they deal with trying to just be themselves. I know a lovely lady who is 40, who wants to change her gender. She is going through the nhs. Before the processs begin, she’s going to go through 2 years of counselling before this takes place. After talking to her,she seems confused. I fell she is doing it for all the wrong reasons. A child is a child, they are not independent in this country till the age 18. Can’t buy cigarettes till you are a certain age. Everything has an age. At that age, what does a child know. I’m not against it and most people are not, but at this age. A boy in my son class who is 6 comes in wearing nail polish, like girls things. But no way are his parents are going to encourage him to change his gender. It’s a long process. Sending love. If you are learning, shouldn’t you have taken time and let him grow up a little more and then decide? What’s the hurry? This mistake you may regret. But you can’t afford to make this mistake.

I am a 47 year old mom living in Florida. My daughter is 18 and came out when she was 16. I have no idea what I am doing but I know that I love my daughter, I want her to be happy and I even have family who are against us but this is my life, this is her life and like you said no-one has any idea unless they have been through it. While I'm iffy about family vlogging in general, and kids personal details being online, I can at the same time appreciate how affirming you are of Edie, and how that can definitely help other kids and families going through something similar. I’ve been watching your videos since before Emilia was born & one of my girls is even named after her because of the impact you had to my life back then ❤️ I remember the day that Edie was born so clearly. I remember when you started weaning her and she would sit in her chair with the cutest little gummy smile. Throughout her childhood years, I became busy having my own children and would pop in to the vlogs whenever I had a free moment, often on birthdays or mostly Anna’s updates. As the years went by, that smile that once took over Edie’s whole face slowly faded for me but at the time I never thought anything about it. That was until 2020, when I started to watch every day again. I think this was when Edie would start to wear the odd “girlie” item on videos and I remember clear as day, seeing that smile come back. That was the Edie I remembered. As the months and years went on of her living as Edie publicly, as a viewer it felt like watching her from the start all over again, except now she was always smiley and happy. I’m still here watching (I am not very good with Tik Tok) but I try and catch up on Edie’s journey where I can. She is beautiful and so courageous. And now, my little girl who I mentioned at the start, loves watching Edie’s videos she makes with Jonathan and thinks Edie is a princess. Anna (& Jonathan) you have both done an amazing job at raising your 3 beautiful girls and your little monkey of a boy 🤣

I’ve been consistently watching your family for so long it feels like it was only yesterday seeing Edie’s gummy bear smile, she was adorable and watching her grow up side by side with Emila was truely magical but you do notice that cheeky smile fade. As others have said, it’s beautiful watching her get her courage and smile back, it’s like watching her be reborn again but this time comfortable and proud of who she is. I have always admired and respected you as a great parent and fantastic mum. My younger brother (19) is transgender and seeing the positive and supportive of this community is rare but so very valued and appreciated. Please make more videos helping more mothers, fathers, family and friends of transgender people and children. We need more of this. ❤

I have been the pilar to my sisters journey thanks to you, this year she was able to reunite with her granny and it was so beautiful I stood by them as they rejoined each other a powerful moment of love and I myself fuelled by your example and courage so much love to you dearest Anna.

I have followed you guys since I was like 17-18. I am around 30 now. I have nothing but love for you guys because you have helped me through a lot of darkness in my life. So, when I say this, I say this from a place of sincerity. Here’s the perspective of those who are concerned. When Edie was announced as transgender, Jonathan made a lot of if about himself and his journey as well. This came off as odd to a lot of people because perhaps it would have been better if the spotlight was put on Edie, not Jonathan AND Edie. I think I understand Jonathan’s perspective: he didn’t want his child to go through this journey alone. The second thing is, does Edie have to have hormone stoppers at such a young age? What is the harm of waiting until she is, say, 14? She is still a child. You can support your child but also guide them through the journey in a way befitting to their longevity and health. There’s been cases where hormone stoppers have manifested in harmful ways for grown adults. So, that’s the perspective from a person who is genuinely concerned. I can’t speak for those who hate on a child.
