Our Trusty old Bedford AWD 8 Tonne Army Truck is now surplus to requirements and is up for sale - It will be a shame to say goodbye to this old friend.
as clarkson would say....probably the best sounding diesel......in the worrrld, i remember driving one of these bad boys at about 10 year old ( in a yard) , funny ol beast tho, you had to wring its neck to get it to go.......Billy Young i need to come and see this old girl. im guessing you still got it?
All gears work in both high and low range. You may not have noticed that it was actually being driven off road and therefore high gear would not be used in this situation. The vehicle was for sale and the film was to show that it worked and its condition not to wreck it. Vehicle was sold just after the film was made and is now happily being used as a forestry truck in the UK Midlands.
Suraj Doobay Very little. :) When the Bedford company failed it was taken over by AWD. So made in the same factory by the same workers but a very late production model, and not long before before the trucks stopped being made altogether. You can see the AWD logo on the front instead of the Bedford. The MK/MJ range had a different front panel rather than just a different badge like on the TM. At the time the change happened I was working for a company that had Bedford trucks, they fitted AWD front panels to the trucks to make them look newer lol.
