Bedroom furniture painting or spraying.
There's money to be made if you have the gear to do it for someone.... or money to be saved it you have the gear and DIY on your own projects.
Changing the colour of painted bedroom furniture is an easy way to change what you have into something you may still want.... just in another colour.
Here I show you how I quickly change the colour of some bedroom furniture and make easy money.
A lot cheaper than buying new.

Great video! Keep them up! Did you have to clean/degrease the wardrobe etc before you keyed it?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
No, just a light sand. They still look great.

You’ve got me hooked Phil! All these spraying videos, I need to really invest in something like this. It’s just the initial cost of the machine. What are there limits and do you have control of the width of the fan pattern
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
you have a lot of spray vids to watch.... lol I cover most of the stuff you want to know. about spray tips.... I've a video on that. Limits.... size of the pump in an airless. what work are you wanting to do with it?? GXff is a good starting point....... then you'll move to bigger and better... see the vid.. Graco 495stMaxII

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator slowly getting through all your vids lol Just watching your hvlp set up, very interesting my man. Learning a lot from you and learned a lot already 🤙🏽 Things I’d be spraying, mainly skirting, doors, thinking about using it on sash windows and ceilings. Walls of probably stick with a brush and 15” roller for now as that works pretty well lol
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
brush and roll for walls is ideal.. easy for touch ups later. unless ceiling and walls are then same colour.. then spray it all lol touch ups can be done carefully with a small roller

Quality, just the sort of thing I’m thinking of doing , and maybe some kitchens . I booked the introduction to spraying course at dulux academy, with there 50% off deal . Not sure how much I’ll learn from it . But it’s a start 👌

Are you just spraying the front edges of all the doors and drawers? Not spraying the opening edges?

Good to watch, Just wondering how do you stop the overspray ? Always I have lots of overspray
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator 2 года назад
Hi. overspray can happen when you spray beyond the surface you're trying to get paint on.. that's just on of those things... Or paint viscosity not correct, tip not matching the paintthickness, too much pressure, distance from the surface etc etc. Lots to it. Some paints spray better than others. With this job, little overspray.. pressure was low, just over 1000psi (you may see a bit less if the paint was warm/making it thinner) Also I had a nice 210 tip..... a 208 tip you'd find you could spray a bit less psi... if not thin enough it could clog a bit more often though ;) Does that help? what do you spray at?

Good job! Easy money when spraying the doors closed like that. Would of took twice as longer if the door edges had needed painted.
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator 2 года назад
thankfully they had the doors originally sprayed with the doors closed, so only a little bit of paint got sprayed into the edges. Me doing the same covered it too. the insides are bare wood. Others I've done, I've sprayed closed then brushed the edges a couple of coats before the last spray coat goes on. There was nothing complicated with these bits of furniture.

Great video Phil. I hope you are well. I've bought a gx21 with the hopper conversion. Best of both worlds. Out of interest how much paint did it take to get it all primed etc before spraying started? 200ml maybe? Just thinking on tin size to buy for a customer's job. I was going to spray the all coat on the frame and skirting, sill. It's a kids room loads of traffic. Cheers 👍🏻
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator 2 года назад
The GXff and gx21 is the same pump. The difference with the gxFF is it has a thinner hose that's only 7.5m... so takes less Paint to prime up The gx21 has a bit bigger house that's 15m.... That allows you to use a max .21 tip..... Whereas the GXff can only cope with a .19 tip. Not sure but allow half a litre. AllCoat exterior... A 5ltrs is about £70?

A lot more control on Hvlp, finer spray finish. Depends how comfortable you are with airless and using smaller spray tips. Hvlp... You can alter the fan and amount of paint flow all on the gun

Hi Phil i’m new to spraying and want to spray some old pine furniture what would be best as an undercoat the customer already has the colour paint they want just wanted to know what was best to go with many thanks 😊
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
Hi. The only problem I can foresee is if there's Knott's, you need to knot over them shellac... Or spray the whole unit with zinnser BIN. Also. If they've been previously varnished... Sanding them to give a key, may then mean the wood will start tanning through what ever you paint over them. The varnish acts like an encapsulation coat, stopping the bleed of the wood.. (tannin) Putting the BIN over all of the unit should hold it off. OR.... Do a very light sand, to give a fine key to the surface... Then use zinnser 123+ That will be a water based grip primer and should hold any stains back. On the Knotts. For safe measure... A rattle can of Zinnser BIN.. spray just the knots. Does that all make sense?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
Oh... What paint has the customer got?

Hi Phil, I'm looking for a unit to paint furniture/lacquer and perhaps a few walls and ceiling. Looking at GXFF or the 9.5 hvlp. Which would you recommended? Thanks
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator 2 года назад
Gxff is the all rounder. HVLP, is for woodwork and fine finish work.. not walls and ceilings. I really like my Gxff.
@tadge74
@tadge74 2 года назад
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator thanks for the reply, I'd probably not use for emulsions but woud like the 'option' to do so. Dont like the noise of HVLP but controlability is a plus as is cleaning as I'm used to pot guns. Will the GXFF be controlable (Small fan pattern, less overspray etc) with fine tip? As an aside, would a normal pot gun and compressor give a decent finish on kitchen cupboards as a starting point ? Thanks again
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator 2 года назад
Yes it would. A small compressor and HVLP would be ideal. Make sure it's big enough for your needs though. Airless, you can swap tips for fan size But swapping tips, means altering pressure and paint thickness. So once your happy with the paint and set up, keep with the tip for that job. Hence a HVLP is more controllable.

I have a Graco A30. No pressure control. I hadn't thought of spraying furniture with that unit but may try it out. Is pressure control important?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator 2 года назад
You can't reduce the pressure at all? Correct spray tip and filters will be what you want to look at, along with keeping an eye on the paint thickness.
@rogerg34
@rogerg34 2 года назад
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator what I meant was no pressure gauge!
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator 2 года назад
@@rogerg34 oh no, that doesn't matter. Start with the lowest pressure and turn it up, bit by bit till you lose tails and the fan pattern is nice and even.

I like the two finger gun of tritech. But remember, you can swap tips and guards between different guns!! All brands will do a decent spray tip... Maybe we'd not notice anything between brands if we did a blind test?

Thank you. Have you watched my vid in spray tips? When you drop down to tip sizes under .11 and .12 for for the finer mesh.. on Tritech it's tye red ones .12-14 use a yellow. Above that the white... Which is the one you'd get with the gun and a 517 tip

No insides getting done?, no edges?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
Nope. Just a straight forward coat up, just like it was done originally. If you want to do edges I find do them and finish before the final spray coat. Keep your eye out for a fatty edge creeping around the front.

Ceilings.. charge for brush and roll.. two coats etc.. how long could you be? Spray it a double coat.... done in a lot less time, either then go play golf, go home earlier.. or get another part of the job done... complete the whole job quicker. you could knock a day or two off the job, making you more £££
