A bee garden is more than wildflowers - though they are important. Together with our bee plant partners, we look at what plants best attract bees to your north Florida home ecosystem. They shared plants of all shapes and sizes, from trees to shrubs and a couple dozen wildflower species. Trees and shrubs typically bloom earlier in the year, while there are plenty of options for summer and fall wildflowers.
Our bee partners are:
Mark Tancig- Horticulture Extension Agent at the UF/ IFAS Leon County Extension
Elizabeth Georges- co-owner of Native Nurseries of Tallahassee
Lilly Anderson-Messec- North Florida Program Manager for the Florida Native Plant Society
We fit as many plant recommendations into this video as we could, but we have many more, plus more gardening tips, on the WFSU Ecology Blog: blog.wfsu.org/blog-coastal-he...
