I'm a HUGE Bee Gees fan, and my friend actually recorded some of their albums at Criteria. I play and sing a large selection of Bee Gees quite a bit. But I must say that although today is not like that era in terms of the many prolific bands, there are plenty of talented artists if you look for them. Just to name a few that write and sing, Ed Sheeran, Sia (Sia Kate Isobelle Furler) is an amazing Australian singer, songwriter, voice actress and director that has written and sung so many hits for herself and other artist i can't even begin to mention them (look it up), Adele - same story. There are many more.

@@raffewr7938 Ooooh, I KNEW I'd upset a few fanboys, especially the British. ;-) Based on record sales alone: 1. The Beatles 2. Eagles 3. Led Zeppelin 4. Billy Joel 5. Elton John 6. Pink Floyd 7. AC/DC 8. Rolling Stones 9. Aerosmith 10. Bruce Springsteen Every single person is going to have a different top band. Again, MY personal favorite is based on what I see and enjoy on youtube. Elton John will always be my favorite overall. I can listen to most all of his songs. Eagles too. I've been listening to The Beatles since I was a baby... old hat. I'm sorry... I KNOW Led Zeppelin has this "GREATEST BAND EVER" vibe, but seriously... look at their best and compare them with all the others. No comparison. ALL of the bands listed in the top 10, are MILES more prolific, when it comes to mainstream acceptance. Most, in the top 10 are still performing. You HAVE to take that into consideration.

@@Bakaat777 Led Zeppelin is the best Band of all time 300 million albums sold Jimmy page is one of the greatest guitarists off all time, maybe the best of all time. John Bonham is the best drummer of all time, no comparison. John Paul Jones is one of the greatest musicians of all time, incredible bass player, look at the bass lines of ramble on or dazed and confused. Robert Plant is such an incredible singer and performer. What a stage presence he has. Maybe the best frontman of all time after Freddy Mercury. Led Zeppelin played live shows that lastet for about 3 or 4 hours. Look at the concert in MSG 1973, Royal Albert Hall 1970 or Earls Court 1975. For me these are the greatest live performances off all time. Led Zeppelin has written the most incredible Rock songs/ballads Just look at Dazed And Confused, Achilles Last Stand, The Rain Song, No Quarter or Stairway to Heaven. I grew up 2 blocks from this studio. The people there were really nice, I used to wander in all the time and look at the gold records on the wall (I understand security is a lot tighter around there now). I had a friend who said he ran into Barry Gibb once, said he was "very nice". I never saw anyone famous (that I recognized). But I did see some Aerosmith equipment in the hallway once. One of the engineers gave me a guitar pick as a souvenir.

Nunca haverá outros iguais a eles. Longa vida há Barry Gibb!!

in today's world, that explosion would take 3 seconds. Just record it, fly that file into a new track of your DAW at the exact time you want, double it, pitch one down by 6 semitones.... done. Man, they had to hit it at the right time and then wonder how they'd turn that into an explosion. Crazy to remember those days of tape.
@TruthSurge
@TruthSurge 4 года назад
@Diana Gero yeah, it's still work but since the engineers can work nearly miracles now with all these plugins... the artists don't have to be as good. They can literally fix it in the mix. Remember when cutting a record literally meant cutting a record? They put a mic up in front of the whole band or two mics for stereo and record the band playing the song directly onto a vinyl record as the master. That would get copied in molds. if just ONE band member blew it... whole song had to be redone.

I recorded at Criteria in the early 1970’s with my Band, Wizard of All. We were blessed to have Karl and Albhy working their Magic too. A 1/2 Dozen years later, 1979, The Bee Gees make Criteria, their home with many hits! Great to see and hear this film was part of Criteria’s Legacy!

I feel privileged to have been in middle school when the BeeGees were at the height of their career. I went to a small school; we couldnt afford a band or DJ for school dances, instead we had a record player. Everyone brought their personal albums to play at the dance. The BeeGees dominated everyone's album collection and thats what played at our middle school dances. I have some of the best memories of that time.

On 9.11.01 I was with Dwina Gibb in Kensington, London showing her a house to buy. It was a surreal moment when the news came though. Days later Robin showed up. What a gentleman he was. He was driven in an old beaten up Range Rover by from what I recall Dwina’s brother. Her mum came too. They went onto buy the house and were a pleasure to deal with. Robin was very interested in the history of the building and wanted to know the workings of the original Victorian parts of the household. There was lots of banter between Robin and Dwina and regardless of newspaper gossip they had a lovely chemistry.

I'd always heard Barry simply mouthed the explosion sound for Tragedy and it's really cool seeing video of the moment that actually occurred. Those were the days and I miss it so much because the greatest decade of all time was just around the corner. Little did we know the insanity our world would evolve into in just four decades. The Bee Gees gave us some of the greatest tunes of all time. Long live the Brothers Gibb.

I remember driving down to Fort Lauderdale w my friends in my car for spring break from NY, and we had a club mix on 8 track, and in my car for 1979 I had a pretty good system in my car , this song kicking , on my Mindblower speakers, of course that were blown by the ride home, but this song sounded awesome
