@DanGerRus
@DanGerRus 3 года назад
@@4055590 I'd never heard that, so I googled it. I found several results that say it helps you keep the proper rate when giving CPR. But in response to your comment, according to Wikipedia (not the best source, I know): "Due to the death of backing drummer Dennis Byron's mother in the middle of the song's sessions, the group first looked for a replacement. The shortage of qualified drummers in the area prompted the group to try a drum machine, but it did not offer satisfactory results. After listening to the drum track of the already-recorded "Night Fever", the group and producer Albhy Galuten took two bars from that track, rerecorded them as a recurrent loop on a separate tape, and proceeded with sessions for "Stayin' Alive". This accounts for the unchanging rhythm throughout the song. As a joke, the group listed the drummer as "Bernard Lupe" (a takeoff on session drummer Bernhard Purdie). Mr. Lupe became a highly sought-after drummer-until it was discovered that he did not exist." It also said they wrote the song while "sprawled on the staircase at the Château d'Herouville studio near Paris." Nowhere could I find anything on any website about them walking first then matching the music to it. 🤷🏼‍♀️😊

They may have been popular, but the critics and people who didn't like rhythmic music thought they were fluff. In the UK, people like Kenny Everett made fun of them on their TV shows, and there was a group called the HeeBeeGeeBees that made fun of them with a song called "Meaningless Songs in High-pitched Voices". They had the money and fans, but no respect from their peers because they weren't deep like Bob Dylan, or some stupid arbitrary shit.

If you have HBO, they just released a documentary about the Bee Gees called How Do You Mend a Broken Heart. It's really good. They spend a lot of time talking about the film and their songs for it. The crazy thing is the film was based on a magazine article about suburban white people going downtown on Saturday nights to the discos. While they were filming it they weren't sure what the title was gonna be. But the Bee Gees manager was producing the film so he called them about doing some music for it. Well, they were literally working on a new album and the first song they had finished was called Night Fever. Their manager thought that sounded a little too sexy for a film title so he said "Well, it's about Saturday nights, so we'll call it Saturday Night Fever." We were getting these amazing songs whether there was a film or not because they wrote them without ever having read the script.

Just to add some song info; Islands in the Stream was written by the Bee Gees, originally in an R&B style, intended for someone else, but not recorded (Maurice said it was for Marvin Gaye, Barry said for Dianna Ross). When Barry was co-producing Kenny’s album, they reworked it for Kenny. After 3 days of singing it, Kenny decided he didn’t like it. Barry said it needed Dolly Parton, who neither of them knew well & didn’t even know if she was in CA (she lives in TN). Kenny’s manager was in the room, said he’d seen her earlier that day & had her #. She was called & to everyone’s surprise, came right over (Kenny said within an hour). Kenny said, “she came marching into the room, & once she came in & started singing, the song was never the same. It took on a personality of its own.” It hit #1 on 3 charts (Hot 100, Country & Contemporary), was Certified Platinum & in 2005 topped CMT's poll of best country duets of all time, plus it began Kenny & Dolly’s lifelong friendship. Not bad for 1 song.

Bee Gees 💞😎🕺🔥💃I love the disco Saturday Night Fever Bee Gees, but you should check out some of their earlier stuff from the 60s. They made such great music for decades. Have a fabulous day Jamel 😊

The Bee Gees are timeless. Totally love them. A lot of music I heard growing up didn't realise they were covers of Bee Gees original music. So much talent.
