It bring me so much joy when our amazing and fearless younger generation (yes, that's you, Lizzie) embraces hits that I, an old man, sang on his way to school in third grade. This song brings be back to the dark, rainy day of my youth when the only real light was music on my radio.
It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats. This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad!
It is amazing to see the ladies hearts melt when they listen to this song... even after all these years. I wish I could evoke this feeling in just one lady.
The most perfect love song. They donated all the royalties to this song to UNICEF after it was released. No one harmonizes like they do. You see 3 brothers singing but you cannot separate their voices from each other they harmonize so naturally. No autotune ever. Always live performances. God-given talent.
I never get tired of seeing other generations react to the BeeGees!! I love love love them!!! Thank you for sharing their music and respecting their talent!
That beautiful three-part Harmony is so good because they've been singing together since they were young boys. Makes you really appreciate how good they are now. The harmonize that well together definitely takes a lot of practice practice practice.
Yep! Barry has 5 adult children, and 7 grandchildren. On September 1, 2021, he will be 75 yrs old, and he and Linda will celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary.
My dear lord......I never thought I'd discover anything as beautiful as the Bee Gees "Too Much Heaven".....Then I stumbled upon you Liz. Stay AWESOME!!!!!
There performances and your reaction say it all. This song is as beautiful as you are. The Bee Gees owned the 70s. They had many hits of their own and many they wrote for other big names. Check more of them out. You won't regret it.
I was a teenager during that time of the British Invasion of great singers and song writers and I really enjoyed dancing their slow love songs it was an era that I myself consider the best one of all time. Now I'm so nostalgic about it every time I listen to all those songs.
This is the first time in 500 reaction videos that the person doing the reaction is as beautiful as the song and I'm talking about your heart. This song I've listened to probably 1000 times and I still tear up. I'm a 68 year old white guy and this song I've listened to since 1978.
It's a wonderful thing that you are enjoying music from my era, thanks so much for introducing it to more young folks. See we have more in common than we think. Enjoy another Bee Gees mellow hit "Fanny". As I learned from another video Bee Gees stand for Brothers Gibb.
You are by far the best REACTION CHANNEL ANYWHERE. We already know how great they are. I danced with my wife 35 years ago to this song. Your beauty smile and enjoyment makes us come back to listen to this WITH YOU as opposed to the other 500 channels that try to do what you do! Good Luck 🍀 GORGEOUS
congratulations Lizzie for having good musical taste and excellent reactions ... you are very well informed by the names of the singers ... which is a plus point for you for informing us as well .. CLASSIC MUSIC FOREVER THE BEST
This song was a huge hit for them in 1977, big time! Is so sad that the only one alive is Barry Gibbs 😢 he's the only surviving brother! May the other brothers rip 🙏 Loving your channel sweetie!👉❤
Your reaction is very genuine. You also have a very attractive way of expressing your emotions. It's nice to see that younger folks like you can appreciate the music of yesterday.
One was crying! Hey, as is said in my neck-of-the-woods, "When ya got it, ya got it!" A black guy said when he gets married, this song will be sang in his wedding! PHEW! Most times, brides select the songs. He'll have to say, "Come here, baby, and listen to this song!" When it's over, I bet you she'll say, "Oh yea! A must!"
I was a little, little, little kid when this song came out. But to this day if it comes on the radio I will BLAST it. My heart just gets so.... happy... when I hear this.
I'm always trying to expand on your generation's music pallet. Your reaction is the same as all of ours, in 1978. Crazy and fun! Good music is good. Sadly I see so many are not getting these kinds of singers and casual songs, these days. Keep digging into the past and find those songs that build your own life's soundtrack! Hey, I'm blowing my mind right now over "The Weekend!!!" So friggin' cool!
Yesss I wish there were more artists that really tapped into different styles of music and didn’t sing about the same 5 things 😭😂 and definitely I’ll always appreciate songs of the past 🙏🏾💗
@@lizziethegangsterhippie9291 To know where you are in music, you have to know the past for a better understanding. Sometimes what you think is brand new, isn't. Have a few listens for you, if you haven't already done so: Tracy Chapman "The Promise." and "Heavens Here On Earth" The words are killer.
@@lizziethegangsterhippie9291 agreed... those harmonies and falsetto voices were amazing.... i'm not sure how much of them you have listened to, but "Words" will melt your heart... one of the early live versions is a must see.
The most beautiful thing about this song is that the gibb brothers didn't make a dime on the sales of this song All proceeds from sales went to UNICEF to fight hunger all over the world!!!!!!
Awesome reaction... Can you just imagine dancing a slow dance to this? I was lucky and also got to dance to their Disco hits. I grew up with the best music EVER. Thank you again
The great thing about this is, I was in 6th grade when this came out and I’m sure Lizzie wasn’t born. But here I am at 55 and she enjoys it just as I did 44 years ago. Cool thing to experience…
My favorite reaction channel because you definitely know what great music is and was. And your beautiful smile and face is enjoyable to look at while listening to this beautiful music
OH ,, ONE more I forgot about ''NIGHTS ON BROADWAY '',..All of the songs I mentioned are from the album MAIN COURSE and that was when the BEE GEES had a change of sound style from their younger days and it made them even much more popular...The whole album is awesome.. ...
Wow, your such a beautiful young woman. Especially your eyes. I really enjoyed your reaction to the song and how you just let the song flow without butting in.
