After 4 decades of "gangsta rap", I am glad to see young people, of this generation, finally "discovering" artists like the Righteous Brothers. This was a time, not all that long ago, when singers, like Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield, could actually sing, without any "gimmicks" or "enhancements". They relied on one thing, and one thing alone, which was "talent". No "booty shaking", suggestive lyrics, or foul language were needed. The Righteous Brothers' smooth, melodic vocals, blended perfectly with Phil Specter's, "wall of sound". These factors culminated in an awesome musical style, which literally grabbed you by your heart. This resulted in a dynamic fusion of gospel and rhythm & blues, which we called "Blue Eyed Soul".

"The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 73 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century. "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965. Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby's use of "Runs" is brilliant. He is the master of the technique and started the trend. 7 notes just to say the word "I".... Their name came when they did a show in a smaller venue and a black man told them…. You two Brothers are Righteous. They created the sound and set the table that all Soul Music fed from for decades to come. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin’ Feelin‘" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

Both the top two songs of soul and heart inspiration and Unchained Melody we're on musically arranged by Phil Spector in the wall of sound that's what he's known for he made all the hits making singers of the late 50s 60s and early seventies and he did a good job at it as you know he's got these two songs by The Righteous Brothers playing on and on for generations and generations so can't put down a good song kind of keep on playing it

Saw Bobby Hatfield at the old Academy of Music on 14th St in NYC. The show was billed as the “Righteous Brothers” but Bill Medley wasn’t there, when Bobby came out the crowd booed but Bobby was cool, he explained he didn’t mislead the crowd the venue did. Then he proceeded to blow the roof off the place with his voice. Many believe Medley’s voice was more powerful, Bobby was just as powerful and he had more range. Bobby sang all of their songs singing both his and Bill’s parts. The crowd gave him long standing ovations and he came out for 2 encores. No auto tune back then, just pure talent! BTW, you are a gorgeous woman!

Way back from a tv show appearance in 1965. I was 9 yrs. old. This is still an R&B classic today and will always be. These guys aren't Brothers by Blood, as some think, but their name came from some Black artists that heard them performing in a small venue, and said "Hey, you guys are "Righteous!" meaning cool or soulful. That name stuck. Bill Medley (Deep voice) and Bobby Hatfield (Handsome Blonde guy) started the term "Blue eyed soul." It referred to white Bands or artists that sang, and sounded like the Black performers that sang R&B. These guys were huge in the mid 60s through the 70s. They are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Great singers.

“Ebb Tide” is also beautiful. Hey, no coming at you here! David Ruffin is awesome! Loved listening to him when he was with the Tempts!

It was just a great time to listen to music. So many good groups. These two were right at the top We got to taking it all for granted back then. Crazy, sad, fun, good times. Thanks for the play.

Did you feel that soft velvet tone reach inside your soul and touch your essence? I sure enjoyed watching a young beautiful woman feel the emotions that once befell upon the old people when we were once young and beautiful. too. This will forever live with you ,.. and nothing you can ever do will make you un-hear such emotions.
