Lorraine is so smart and it's obvious she's been doing her research. Very nice mentor - it's always helpful to learn from someone with experience. Congratulations on your successful start! :)
That was great to see a novice doing this. Most videos just show experts so it was great to see someone trying to learn how to do basics like hold the frames. Great job Lorraine!
I am very interested in your "Bee" journey. I find them fascinating. Your Mentor is great. So patient and so willing to share his knowledge. You are very fortunate to have such a caring person. Loraine, you may be forever known as the "Crazy Bee Lady". :)
I feel like this was a WONDERFUL learning experience for Lorraine! I could just see her gears churning with all of her questions! Great, fascinating content!
Wonderful there's nothing like obtaining additional information and knowledge. I can really appreciate it when a serious approach is being taken as we encounter new challenges. Great job Lorain
Lorraine, you are just a natural bee keeper. You have learned so much in just a short time. I am really impressed. Thanks for sharing this video with your bee mentor. I never knew there was so much to bee keeping. Y'all have a Happy Mother's Day.
I am on my 2 year bee keeping and I learned a good amount from that mentor! He is awesome!! My county has an extension office that offers a free bee club and that has been a huge help for me! Also Bees for Dummies at the local library has been helpful!
At this point it all feels like a huge learning curve. In no time you will be doing the inspections in 5 min. Your bees are incredibly patient with their hive being disturbed for such a long time. Good work. Your mentor is great.
i can see Lorraine being a mentor in a few years, she is a great listener and is retaining the knowledge. she has great questions too. yall are doing great ! i love watching you story unfold !
I regularly watch homesteading vlogs. This one had me totally spellbound.Thank you for sharing such a special, educational and fascinating experience!!! Be well and be safe xx
This guy is a wealth of information! What a wonderful thing to have a bee keeping mentor. Thanks for letting us come along. This is so interesting! ❤🐝🐝🐝❤
God bless you dear people. All I know about bees is getting stung as a child walking barefoot through clover in the spring and summer. Very much appreciate all who care to manage bee hives. Not that I will be a bee keeper, but thanks for the instruction video. Way to go, Lorraine.
Lorraine, excellent job reading the room. You recognized that your mentor is a straight shooter and patient man, and that he had your back on getting this information out. You kept everyone on task and on topic with great information flowing like a waterfall. Glad your second Queen was ok. I gasped with you when he destroyed the cell lol. Keep up the great work! 👏
You’re doing just fine, Lorraine! Each beekeeper is new and starting at learning at some point, be patient with yourself and trust your need! With a good mentor and increasing experience, you’ll soon feel very comfortable and confident. ❤
So fun! He seems like a great mentor! One thing you might want to invest in is a frame perch. We used one in our bee class so I bought one for my hive. It hangs on the edge of your hive when you open it and you can place frames on it to hold it instead of setting it on the ground.
You hav no idea what a great QUEEN you hav!! The object is to get in & outif a hive quickly!!! before they even kno you're there... Canadian BeeKeepers BLog is good to watch. He films every day.
What a fascinating video! Lorraine, you asked so many questions I would never would have thought of. You have a jewel of a mentor!... Been wanting to gain bees but want to learn first...ALL explanations were excellent..Thank you.
Learning use your j hook hive tool hold it horizontally with the blade down and then use the blade to pry sideways to break the frames loose and use the j hook on the other end to raise the end bars up so you can grab them.
So interesting. So much to learn! I would put rock down around the hives and maybe an easy shade built to put up on really hot days. I know someone that put theirs on pallets screwed the hives down to them so wind doesn’t knock them over. Great job! What a fun new project. SAVE THE BEES 💗
Lorraine really has learned a lot that she was asking to make sure what things were and was right. You go, lady! :) I had no idea propolis came from bees! I put some on my face every day. I enjoyed this and watched the whole video. :)
Lorraine,, you are ane such a great student and pay so much attention and actually learn, which can be hard but I can just see you going , ohhhh i see. Thanks
I enjoyed your video so much. The bee videos are one of my favourite videos so far about your animals. So.many informatons. Great. Thank you very much for that!
Keeping a journal was really good advice. Journals turn into diaries which could turn into a book. Just saying :) I look forward to seeing how the hives do. They are very chilled hives.
Wow Lorraine good on ya girl!!! That is so much to remember. My brain is spinning. Good that you have this video to refer to! You're gonna be a pro in no time!💖👍💖
I found this video really useful Thankyou. I have just packed my bees down for the cold winter to come here in Melbourne, Australia and I have never really cleaned up the frames before to make it easier to inspect and to get the frames nice and close together. I did this today and hope that it will make things much easier going forward. Thanks so much for this tip.
So awesome and Inspiring! Just took my 1st bee class a month ago waiting for the 2nd one and am so nervous about it and also excited. Thanks so much you guys.
