It's kinda hard for us as fans to feel for Strasburg. Like give me a break. All he has to do is show up at camp, eat free food and use the facilities to help rehab your injury. He could look at it as he was and is such a legacy part of the franchise that the Nats are willing to give up a roster position just to have his presence in spring training. Since free agency players have become so spoiled that they can't even do the minimum to collect their 35million a year. Where as the average fan is hustling harder than ever before just to afford to go see their team once or twice a year with prices going through the roof. I don't see him getting any support or pity from any of us fans and rightly so.

To me this just shows how out of touch players have become with us average working fans. SS got a huge contract, multi-generational wealth, and then was quickly injured. That’s not anyone’s fault. But to then not want to do anything for the club is weird and a bad look. Even if you are an introvert, you can still make the effort to be a positive influence for your organization by being partly accessible to coaches, players, and fans. I understand there seems to be bad blood between SS and ownership now, but I don’t think it would be hard to be the bigger person, spend a little time in Florida and show you still care about the organization that gave you money that most people cannot even dream of. Also, I can’t help but recall his college coach was the great Tony Gwynn - has there ever been a player who showed more care and love for his team and city while playing for comparatively little money?

He's already made hundreds of millions of dollars which he sacrificed his body for. And now he's making more money - does he not want to be part of the game and the organization? Stras is probably the second-greatest Nationals of all time (behind Zimmerman). Like Todd said, come hang out with the team and mentor young pitchers and sign autographs for fans. How hard is that?
