When I was in a club I was living in an apartment above the garage at the club house. I fell behind in my dues by several months. One day it's the night before church and I'm having a beer at a local bar when one of my "brothers" walks in. We shot the shit and had a few beers together. He knew I was having some hard times. Everything was cool when I left. Or so I thought. The next day at church this trusted "brother" moves to have me kicked from the club for failure to pay dues. I stood up for myself, plead my case and got a 30 day period to come up speed with what I owed the club. Which I did so I was able to stay in the club and in my apartment. This caused a division of members. But I certainly discovered who my friends and true Brothers were and weren't from that experience. When I hit 10 years I retired and walked away. That was 7 years ago and I've never stepped foot on their property or attended an event again. Fuck that, there are enough motherfuckers out there you gotta watch your back around already. Nobody should have to worry about their own Brothers.

Been betrayed, tricked stripped and beaten. All by a paranoid methed out member who promoted two prospects to help him do it. 3/4 of the club had no idea it was even going down. My club made it right but I couldn’t trust the duty anymore and had to walk away after years of thinking I was safe and could trust them.

As far as outlaw clubs go, the word brother means nothing these days. I did some time in a 1% club in Australia and one of the newly patched members had a jealous streak for me because I could hold my own, didn’t invite shit and did what needed to be done for my club. He even went so far as to rob my house while I was out! Not sure what shit he spun about me but all the members took his word as a “patched” member, and because they knew I could fight, I got bought into the club meeting where I noticed everyone was spaced out around the room. The person that closed the door behind me, as I spun around, sprayed me right in the face with pepper spray (police issue pepper spray) an I proceeded to get beaten by everyone until I heard the Sgt at arms yell enough! I got stripped of my colours, booted from the club and threatened to keep my mouth shut about anything I witnessed while in the club. But despite all that, being booted was a godsend as club life these days is all about the money you bring into the club and nothing about brotherhood. I’ve spoken with past presidents of clubs that always spoke of how being at the top was the hardest years because you had the biggest target, but that fear wasn’t from other clubs, it was from your own people wanting to be top dog and would do anything in their means to get it. Even if it meant knocking you off and planting it on rivals.

I’m not a biker or anything like that, but I’m noticing this exact problem myself. I see a lot of dudes who will shit on the people who love and care about them and then cozy up to the exact people they claim to hate. I’m saying this as a guy who’s just a civilian by anyone else’s standards.

A brother should be a lifelong, permanent bind regardless of any situation that arises. Be wary of someone calling you "brother." You need to take that statement with a grain of salt.

I witnessed this too many times, every group has a couple that won't bust a grape if they had a sledge hammer but act hard around their own, these are the worst ones to have around. In the groups there should be mutual respect amongst all brothers, not all grown men are going to get along but respect should be given.

In my experience, thiw whole: 'brother', we are Brothers is BS. Used by guys that always cause trouble, to guilt shame you in always getting then out of the trouble, they brought on themselves. The guys with patches, and Brotherhood BS, it was like a Telenovela with them. I decide who to help and who to catch a beating for

IMO, the reason why people fight their own is simple. If you go and fight someone from a rival club or gang, you have to deal with the possible repercussions from everyone in that organization. If you put your hands on someone within your own group, it's usually just: "Let them settle it on their own." I'm not saying that it can't cause a rift, but the reaction will be less severe. I think some people are just wired to fuck with others for their own pleasure and want the safety of a group to be able to act that way.
