Well, we went through a couple colonies last week and happened to check some mite counts, so this week, to be on the safe side, I'll go out and check to be sure I didn't harm the queens in those two colonies that I did the mite washes on. If you're not busy, take a walk with me and we'll go and check them out.

Amen Mike. The flooding up in North Carolina and Tennessee was unimaginable. Out thoughts and prayers are with them. Hurricane Ivan had us out of power for 10 days. Keep up the VBlog. We love it.

Indeed Mike, we need to keep all the people affected by these storms in our hearts and minds. Fall weather has set in here in central NH. It's rainy and 56f out. Not much for nectar out there but a few late asters. Winter dearth is upon us, next pollen is late march...good luck bees. Thanks for posting and take care, Brice

It is unreal what happened back there! The human spirit is helping though…”neighbors helping neighbors” is what this country is about! I am a big fan of yours and have been for quite a few years! So glad you enjoy them!! We have our challenges in winter as well since we really don’t have one. Where northern beekeepers have brutal cold they have to get thru, we have a never ending and long swarm season in spring and summer. We’re doing swarm control from February through July. Where y’all are envious of our mild winters, I’m envious of the compact seasons where I can split and super. Here we split and then continue to combat swarming. It’s a never ending battle. Here on the Family Farm in East Tenn in GREEN County we got hit hard but are lucky to have well water and a generator to run the house. Have taken a couple Deer off the farm to feed local famiys without. Take care Mr Mike

The next storm, Milton, looks to be a bad one for Florida. Keeping those folks in my prayers as I have friends and family in the path of this storm. Keeping all the folks that were hit by the last storm. looking forward to chatting with you in January.

It's sure terrible the natural disaster from that hurricane. Seems there are more and they are stronger, and go later into the season more than ever. I was watching Justin Rhodes and he had a couple bee hives and he video'd them floating down the flood river on his NC property. I think he's near Ashville. People gonna comment what they comment, you can't fix them. Just keep on how I doin it, that's what we like! I like how you do it. There's 50 variations of how to do anything in beekeeping and everyone thinks their way is the best. lol Man that hive was a bit testy. Sometimes they just get that way. I usually just live with it and they chill after a few weeks, but sometimes not. I've only requeened a couple hives in all the years I've been keeping bees. Some say I should requeen a lot, but most of the time, they will chill out. Glad you had a nice Saturday to work your bees. It was nice here this weekend as well. Mornings were in the 60's. I can definitely use some of that. lol Take care Mike.

You can bet urself one thing World Famous Mike Barry, we will (The Beekeeping Community) continue being a voice for the one's impacted by Helene and most definitely continue praying for each and everyone dealing with this natural disaster. I’ll just change it when it gets full of beetles or clumped up from the humidity. No real set timing since I don’t use traps that often.

I thought I had a queenless hive last week. So I took an egg/larva frame from another hive and put it in. Boy was I relived yesterday when they capped the brood but didn't make queen cells. On top of that I found new brood and new eggs, whew! The Golden Rod is pretty much done here, but in my area we have Witch Hazel flow too, which came early this year and is already going on. I was super worried they wouldn't have time to requeen.

Hello Mike Thanks very much for the wishes. Here i had a few tree down but nothing that could be taken care of . Our neighbor to the west yes are in a very bad way . Also it looks like there is another storm brewing in the gulf but it looks like it will head east so Fl will get this one . All this is just bad for anyone an everyone . Did you say here while back you were thinking about doing a video on pollen cleaning and drying it. 👍if so . Thanks

Do you think you might have critters trying to get bees during the night? I had some mean colonies but sense I've got a couple possums they calmed down remember I'm in northern Michigan.
