I like the coffee time. Sometimes I’ll watch the bee part first and coffee time separate. By the time I sit down to tune in for coffee, it’s somehow always a topic that is helpful for whatever is going on.

I like the coffee time chats, I watch these vids in 2 parts, one for the bee content and one for the coffee time. It's like having an extra video for free 😊 This one took me back...we were quite poor farmers back in the 60's and 70's and I remember the first camera dad had was a square box that you looked down into, I think it was called a Brownie, and the image you saw in the viewfinder was upside-down. Colour was a long way off for us. Ah, nostalgia.

I very much like coffee time, I watch it here in the UK. It reminds me of when the lovely elderly man who taught me bee keeping was alive, he used to come round, go through my bees with me and then we used to sit down and have a cupt of tea and a biscuit and discuss what we had seen.

One thing to remember about the old instamatics or brownie cameras. Buyng the camera was just the initial expense. You also had to buy film and you had to pay for processing and postage to mail the film. Now you take a picture with no additional cost and have it immediately.

I admire your work. I have spent the last 25 years in Radio. I am retiring and moving from the Florida Keys to Oklahoma. I am hoping to begin my first apiary and my first RU-vid channel in the coming months. I know it takes three years to develop a personality in radio that is recognizable to the locals. and I know there’s no time like the present to begin. Thank you for the inspiration and the education. There is a lot of bad information out there that yours is a voice I trust.

Well THIS probably explains why a 2 year-old robust hive that I did a split on, then SWARMED in June '22, did NOT make it through the winter. BIG LIGHT BULB - - and a little 'duh' to myself... 🥴 Lesson learned. THANKS David!

Thanks for the instructional videos and for coffee time. I enjoy the content of both of them. the 1st camera I was introduced to was the "Brownie" but used the 110 alot as a child. I am really enjoying my learning time as a "new-bee" in the beekeeping arena. I was actually able to go with my mentor today and conduct my first hive inspections, wow is all I can say.

110 film cartridge for your 110 camera. The other one, I believe, was 12 exposures. The 125 film cameras were either brownies or professional. 35mm was a popular choice for camera geeks, too! But average family was the 110 camera. With the flash bulb. If you tried to change it quickly. Blistered fingers. Remember the square rotating flash bulb? 4 shots between bulb changes.

I like coffee time, this one was great it took me back. Ha ha ha those old cameras really hit or miss. Your chats always make me think and or provide food for thought. That is a valuable part to our own well being, and part of putting ourselves first. You have been very helpful to me as a new bee keeper. My family all take part in this new hobby to create more pollinators, and of course, we all want the best for our bees. Thank you for the know how, confidence, tips and tricks as well as valuable insight and food for thought. It was a great way to start my day today.

Yes! That's great insight. It's encouraging for life and also for beekeeping. I just find it so thrilling that we "made" some queens (after taking your online course). I feel like we might just figure this out. It's good to remember that success doesn't come overnight. I totally subscribe to that philosophy. My mother and I enjoy beekeeping together. She is 76 years old now. We have a grand time working the bees and learning together. We screwed up our courage and did some mite washes today. Thanks for the coffee time!

A+ for content and presentation David! Thank you. I really enjoyed your coffee talk thoughts and suggestions. Another reason to replace an older Queen in July, a couple of times I have had hives supersede their older Queen in late summer/early fall. The result is usually a poorly mated Queen who turns into a drone layer in winter or is superseded again in late winter/early spring when there is no Drones ( or very few).

I enjoy your coffee times and stories. I find it very interesting that you lived close to Terre Haute as a child as that is was our closest big town when I was a child growing up. Another interesting fact I was born about and hour from where you live now and still have close relatives there. Thank you, for the flower bees a few back. I have a good sized Blackberry patch, I'm about to cut down to get it back under control. I am thinking about adding Elderberry in that same area. Can you do a video on absconding? We pulled honey from our first hive two weeks ago and did a full inspection, everything looked great . The brood pattern was good, we left several frames of honey and other resources looked good. Three days ago we noticed a lack of activity around the hive and when we opened it up yesterday it was empty. Our other two hives looked fine inside, now we are wondering if we may have taken too much honey or did something else that may have triggered these girls to leave. We are in our second year of beekeeping and love learning from your videos and are so glad we found your channel.

Good evening David. Thanks for all the help you have given. I have a 2 year old queen lays pretty good. Problem I have is the hive as a whole is lazy. I've enjoyed so many of your videos, Thank you for being here for me with all the info. This is my first year of bee keeping. Are the mites less likely to attack a hive if it is say 2 feet off the ground ? I noticed there is a swarm under the facia board on my home, I plan on waiting until the fall with cooler temps to remove the bees & comb & start them in regular hive box in the garden, is there a lesser chance of mites in this hive in my home ? Are mites less common in certain areas of the U.S.? Thanks for your time. Ken.

Coffee time depends on subject matter. This one, yes, I like. I miss film for pictures. Cheaper equipment, better for our trips to the races. As far as bang for the buck and getting great shots of cars and bikes. Digital has it's advantages sure. But when trying to get pics of things at medium to high speed, just to much cost for one capable. I had a cannon something 35mm and four lense options, tripods, and had less the 700 in the whole kit!

David, I would love to support you through your store. I have two thriving colonies in eastern Washington State this year and want to make sure they are healthy going into winter as we are about to start a long, dry derth in my region. With a $100 budget, what is the best bang for buck way to get them as strong as possible going into our long, cold winters up here(late oct-apr). All the different feeding methods are a bit overwhelming. Thank you so much for you videos as they have put me on the right track to becoming a sucessful beekeeper.
