Hi Dave, A bee question maybe not related to this vid, but here goes. I have a hive with a queen that does not lay eggs, but she goes through the motions of laying and no egg. There is no larva brood or eggs in this single deep hive, so this has been going on for a while. If I pinch this queen , how long should I wait after the pinch before joining a weaker hive (but with a good laying queen) in another deep with newspaper in between the two deeps? I was thinking 24 hours? thanks for the help, Dave, or anyone else who can advise.
David, it’s Friday. Missed your live view last night. Kind of busy with the kids, but I’m kind of wondering I have a lot of bees trying to get in at the same time. Should I open up the bottom opening a little bit more? I have it on a slight angle, but it seems like they’re fighting to get in, do you ever take that off completely or does that open them up for robbing? Thank you Charlie PA. Have a great day. I got a nuc which was queenless. 2 weeks ago. They are queen right now. She just started laying today. 6/8 all the brood has emerged. I saw a few bees with mites on them. Should I be concerned considering the brood cycle was broke. And she just started laying. Or should I consider treating them?
Question on tilting a hive forward. I've read both yes and no. How much of a tilt works the best? I didn't read anything about that in your book but I just started reading it. I'm in Ohio
Minute 47:00 (identifying honey via polin sourceing) I believe its been found that some plants provide polin and no nectar, and the reverse is also true. With this in mind would a polin source test actually identify the source of nectar/honey
I do not ever use an entrance feeder. Is that what you mean by outside feeder. Our Burns Feeding Board goes on top, where the smell of HBH doesn’t leave the hive and robbers would have to go through all the bees to get through it.
Good video when you sit behind a deck/table and talk that is fine but I enjoy the most is when you go into the hives I hope you get the young man to come back and do some more videos that would be great, Hope you have a blessed week.

Say Dave Honey bees are ASE certified in air condition and heating, Douh! When you vent the top you make it harder for the bees and they burn more resources too cool or heat! When you turn your AC on do you go upstairs and open the windows?
I might largely agree with you. However, bees cannot produce low humidity, cold air as an AC unit does. In a house our warm air blow across a cold coiling coil full of refrigerant which removes the dense humidity. So if you watch bees they line up and try to draw the hot humid air out of the hive. If it gets real hot then they use a ton of energy to remove their heat and they stop collecting nectar and just bring in water. So opening the top slightly can help them conserve energy.
Absolutely beautiful!!! I need one of my hives to do this! Two days I went and got a swarm, put them in the box where they stayed overnight....I went to see if my other hives needed sugar water yesterday, and noticed no bees flying in or out from that box... opened it up, and they all had flown away. Made me feel sick the rest of the day!
Oh I’m sorry, that is disappointing. They did that because as you caught them the scout bees already had a new place picked out and were just about ready to head there. Eventually after you caught them, they did.
I cough a swarm like a month ago. I put frames less frames out of the 5gal bucket paint stick glue a marsh mellow fire 🔥 wooden sticks at first they start building extra cones in between I remove and re- stack 2 of the new cones & change some positions… now they build everything, only at the bottom start again making it funny cones again in one or 2. I added a 4 frame nuc on top,but the biggest surprise ever it was full of small hive beetles at least like 20 I kill with the hive tool cut then in half.. it was funny watching the bees 🐝 jumping & attacking the beetle 🪲 but they’re so small that the sting don’t reached 😂. Never see so many & why if the hive don’t have too much food source yet… for them to develop.. I guess that that area was infested with them some how. The other crazy thing didn’t spot the queen either seen eggs.. a lot of cap brood but not noticed anything else., maybe the bees are eating the eggs 🥚… yesterday I changed the 10 frame until 3 nucs glet me know what your guys think? The brood wax is very foundation that yellow like mustard color.
I had a colony swarm as I was working in the yard. They landed in a tree next their home hive. I was able to drop them in a new prepped hive. I left them right there and they seem to be doing fine after 3 weeks.
They may have felt over crowded and made swarm cells, or the queen was injured in transferring the frames over to the new box. Otherwise no she should be their queue for a couple of years.
I would give to CMA, Christian Motorcyclist Association, money to give missionaries transportation. It can be a motorcycle with maintenance and fuel for life or a bicycle or whatever is best for that missionary.
